Does anyone have any good suggestions for getting them painted quick and well? :D
Also, are there any glairing ommisions? Bare in mind this is a starting lot so we can get games in.
Thanks in advance as allways
Brian.
Good force selection, lots of late war goodness.
Spray basecoat for the vehicles - tamiya makes a decent dunkelgelb, almost any darkinsh green is good enough for the RKKA.
Looks OK to me Brian - as lentulus says, you've got enough for some variety there (and, of course, you can adjust for earlier war action with simple armour changes)
Some *proper* artillery [off-table] wouldn't go amiss - and it's a proven fact that it works better in-game if you do have models to represent it; ditto air support: BKC is a combined-arms ruleset & you'll miss it if it's not there...
If you're after a fast paintjob then, again, lentulus's suggestion of spray basecoat can save you a load of time 8)

Yup, Tamyia drab olive for instance is perfect for USSR armour if dry-brushed with a slightly lighter tone of acrylics and then a dark brown wash for rust effect. Instead of spending hours on detailed paintwork, you can add variety with extra's such as the gas tanks on a T-34 (sold separately by Pendraken) and various chests, sacks, rolled mats and other stuff which you can easily scratch make with clay or green stuff. Bunches of little twigs tied to the side of a Marder or a StuG as 'extra armour' isn' t historically amiss either. Saves on the tiresome camouflage pattern spray-painting...
Cheers,
Aart

Gah, sorry to be necromantic, but ive now allmost finished the german bases, and am about to start on the command bases, but i can remeber why i had 4 HQs
I know i was going to use 2 Inf HQ, 1 Armour HQ and something else but i cant remeber.
Man i hate my brian brain
Would the support be under into own HQ? The MMGs or Paks?
Yes it could be.

I think that for late war Germans, it's not unreasonable to field mixed-up units: two companies of infantry plus support (MG/mortar) plus the Hetzers, for example. They have flexible doctrine anyway, so it's not very important what goes where in the first place.
You seem to have enough infantry to field a full strength regiment of two bttlns plus support. MG's and mortars were part of the bttln's heavy weapon coy so would come under the bttln HQ. The ATG & IG were regimental assets your option here is to use your 'extra' HQ to command these or they could be attached to the bttlns. My favoured option though would be to use it for a type of reserve battle group formed from various elements of your force. HQ's in BKC do not have to represent a specific command unit such as bttln HQ it's a bit abstract in that regard.
I too have a mighty Russian hoard, Vehicles look great and are a doddle to paint quick!
1. undercoat models Black (it hides all the missed bits!)
2. Paint Orchide Shade (Citadel)
3. Heavy Dry brush of Knarlock Green (Citadel)
4. apply a Badabd Black was (Citadel) it makes the tank look scruffy for that extra Russian feel and gets into the nooks and crannies!
5. then a light Dry Brush of the Knarloc Green again to highlight!
6. apply a coat of Army Painter Matt Varnish.
rough and ready Russian armour!
