Did York today - very busy show, just some observations on my blog
http://battlefieldswarriors.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/york-wargame-show-2017.html
Thanks for the blog post, some interesting thoughts and observations
Good to see your purchases broadly aligned with your pre-show plans :o
I hope the back settles down again soon
Good to hear you enjoyed the day, we had a good one too, about the same sales as last year but a great start to the show season for us.
Interesting post - thanks.
Shame about the back, I know how that feels.
I enjoyed the show today but felt it was very crowded in places and difficult to get about. However, I picked up my pre-order of Pendraken ACW, some bases and paints plus some unpainted 10mm buildings for the ACW project. I also got the Hail Caesar supplement for Caesar himself and various little bits and bobs to help numerous other projects.
I had a great day as always, it is turning into a bit of a social event meeting up with people I know through the North East gaming community and the delightful people who populate this forum :-bd :-bd :-bd
Nice report Norm :)
Same again. :)
Cheers - Phil
I thought the York show today was excellent although it did appear to be a bit quieter later in the morning. I left to drive north at 2pm so couldn't comment on the afternoon.
I had a good 45 minute spell in the flea market disposing of a large unit of Late Roman infantry, 2 units of AWI Continentals and a complete army of RCW Reds bringing in well over £200.
This funded a significant purchase of paint, twenty plus bottles, the Adventure Pack for Congo, some Litko markers and two packs of Pendraken Marlburian (French and British).
The little Brits and Frogs will provide cannon fodder for my 'Cordery' experiment. I will post updates on this via my blog.

1st time at York was on Sunday. Couldn't believe how many folk were there. Some very impressive games going on.
Was quite light on the pocket. Used my "Guess the post #" credit on bases and dice while talking to the fellas about old Claymore days, picked up a special mixed bag of 3mm from Richard's
Magister Militum for a 3mm skirmish idea then it was over to Irregular Miniatures to collect a 6mm Medieval order. Ian was busy counting and bagging figures for punters waving cash but had
time to tell it's only 33 years I've been a customer, his old Dad Ron came over to finally meet the Scotsman he'd cast all those 1000's of 2mm Ancients for :) Another purchase was an engraved
bullet.
I'd drove about 400 mile to get there, went via Chester :o, and had another 220 mile to get home so wasn't there too long.
A good day out somewhat marred by my car being written off on the drive home :(

A car is just a car, hope you are OK.
Ooh! That's not good! Hope you're OK.

Does smack ever so slightly of "Other than that Mrs Lincoln how did you enjoy the play?" :)
#-o :D
Vapnartak is a big show .... on so many levels. :-[
Hope you didn't like that car.
And why Chester? Did you get lost? :-\
Thanks everybody. Saw the car in the salvage yard yesterday and I'm only suffering a bruised/swollen knee.

Really loved that wee car, only one I've had that sailed through MOT :(
The detour via Chester was to collect my 44th Peavey bass guitar, though it could have been my last :) Ian Kay has 5 sets of drums so I reckon he's worse than me ;)
Ithoriel
I'm quite upbeat about the whole thing not because I feel invincible like Jeff Bridges in the film, I just can't process it. Not shocked or stunned more like it never happened.
Very strange.

Holy funt! Missed that snippet! Hope you're on the mend.
Blimey, glad you are ok after the accident!
Yeah pleased your ok
Take care
Andy
Any accident you walk away from is a good one in my book.
Hope you knee gets better.
Well on the mend Thanks :)
I managed a hobble into town today so if I can do that I can stand long enough to paint up the remaining Brigade Models Hadrians' Wall packs.
Definitely "Totaled" as we say here. Glad you are basically OK - as pilots say any landing you walk away from is a good landing.
Of course if you lot didn't insist on driving on the wrong side of the road.... :D
Really glad to hear you're OK, KB !
Stroll on......That does look like a heavy 'smack'.
Cheers - Phil.
Ouch, glad you did not get more seriously hurt.
Wee update. Swelling went down and bruising started to come out but even with a stick getting about was difficult. It's only a mile into town and every time I got back home the knee was killing me.
Went to see the GP this morning who referred me up to the hospital. Doctor there says " Knee's not broken,if it was broken you wouldn't be able to walk. I'll send you for X-rays anyway."
Back to A&E after X-ray where Doctor say " I'm afraid you've broken your kneecap !!" Get a full leg cast tomorrow.
Looks like I'll have plenty of time for painting figures now :)
Double ouch.
I felt like a murderer when I wrote off my first car.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Same here !!
Cheers - Phil.
But can you paint figures with your cast on?
Also wishing you a speedy recovery

Good you can see the bright side ;)
"Mr Blair, you were in a full leg cast, and now it barely covers your knee?"
"Ah! You noticed. Would you like to see my new plaster terrain features?"
Get well soon!
Hope it heals up quickly. Look after yourself!
Hope you feel better soon
Take care
Andy
