Title: I have my new 10mm Battlescale buildings
Post by: Norm on 19 January 2017, 12:52:28 PM
New 10mm resin building range from Steve at Battlescale (battescale.com).

Pleased to receive these in the post this morning. I had ordered just before the castings had been taken and the owner (Steve) kindly kept in regular touch by text for updates.

The models themselves are well detailed and VERY cleanly cast,  no sign of air bubbles or flash etc. Between the quality of the models and the good customer service, I am left with the impression that Battlescale care very much about what they do and their plans to get more 10mm releases out this year is a real shot in the arm for this scale.

I have put a photo up (with some models to show scale) over on my commanders site for those interested  (it is photo - not a video, despite what the link says!)

Overall - very good out of the box experience.

What's the resin like - does it feel hard/brittle? The ruins - how rough/cluttered are the interiors? Could you use them for individual 10mm bases in a skirmish game?

Resin is hard, not sticky and not smelly  Detail is deep enough that he relief will allow washes and dry brushing to give a good effect.

interiors have rubble that have masonary and the odd wooden plank. They look to be appropriately filled rather than over or under filled with rubble. Y ou could do a general block paint of the floor (say very dark grey) and then pick out the rubble bits with colour of choice. Nothing is piled up too high and remains flat enough to take a small case or part of a base.

They are individual and have a lot of character - so I would say they would be fine for skirmish gaming.

there is a photo in my link above.

there is a larger building in the range, I forget which one, but I remember thinking it would make a good Chew House for an AWI game.

Glad you like them Norm. All the models are cast using vacuum equipment so no bubbles, no voids, just unpack and paint!

Yes, I think 10mm has been rather starved of scenic support for a while, I have mostly been resorting to N gauge buildings from model rail suppliers - but with Escenografia Epsilon (from Pendraken - I got some at Christmas) and Battlescale (who say there is more to come), both of whom are delivering small footprint products, it looks like the allure of 10mm as a 'go to' scale will only get stronger.

I have been pleased enough to put a second order in, which includes the bridge piece, which looks nice and compact, but is long enough to span a typical waterway.  I will comment back here once I have it, particularly from the perspective of someone using Kallistra 4" hex terrain.

New resins came through. Of particular interest to me has been the 10mm bridge .... superb.  carriageway is just over 30mm, it easily takes my Pendraken Tiger I which is based. Length is 120mm, so it spans my 4" Kallistra hexes quite nicely and is a close mate with the Kalistra road. Overall, very pleased and recommended.
