Dear Gentlemen of the Forum,
I am somewhat bereft of space and resent having to store large quantities of hills. I have conceived the notion of stacking hills - i.e a set of hills that are like Russian dolls and will fit one into the other.
My concerns are that the hills will need to be a structurally robust shell, possibly with a padded insert to protect the next smaller size.
Has anyone any experience of such terrain? Any advice?
Kallistra do a set of 3 (non-hex) hills that look like they would stack.
I too would suggest Kallistra. They are robust, flocked and they work.
I have Kalistra. Unfortunately they don't stack. Solid. :(
'Stacking Hills', good name for a band!
Or indeed, a porn film :-
HMS Barham: A British warship crewed by exclusively by the Jewish.
Possibly look at Amera Plastics - they may not be *very* stackable, but they're all hollow vac-formed so are vaguely stackable at worst :D
Although, how tall a set of hills do you want? Could you go with small "relief map" style, using cork or floor tiles (see bigjackmc's batrep threads), as you can then throw all the different layers on top of each other in a box...
I've got the Kallistra thermoformed Hills and Escarpments which do nest together.

The slopes are a bit steep and magnabased or metal based figs can slide off. Various ways around that problem including the anti-slip backing they sell alongside.
I store them nested together and no problems with flock coming off. The Flocked TT versions (varied flock) are a very nice effect or you can get the unflocked versions cheaper and apply your own.
Well what in the name of the Dark Lord's extra rib have I got? :-t
I thought of the old vacuform plastic stuff also. Here is another that may be of some application

I should have added that the island range is particularly interesting but not altogether sure about stacking.

The list is long and varied
A fetish for the services of Miss whiplash
Strained wrists from falling over ( HMMM! Not sure that this was the real cause, I think it was RSI from a certain pastime)
Various assorted allergies.
A crush on Anne Hathaway
An addiction to Pendraken figures - well apart from the T35's from the OTHER manufacturer.
A deep rooted fantasy to become a casting dwarf so you can be chained to the casting machine near all those Pendraken miniatures
Oh sorry, you meant what sort or hills do you have? How the heck should I know? :)

You have their solid hills designed to specifically fit in with their hex terrain system. They also do the free standing vacuum formed hills. We have some down the club.

My Hexon hex hills are all stackable as well!

I'll pop in a bump for Amera - their products good and they're cracking to deal with!
Will might testify to that - he had some of their sand dunes and hills my better half did up :)
They were top!
My Kallistra hex hills stack beautifully.
In a similar vein, has anyone used Kallistra's non-slip backing sheet? How thick/tough is it? I use individually based 10mm minis on 12mm washers, and I've stupidly based them smooth side down (punched washers have a smooth side & a ridged side, like punched boardgame counters). I intend to use a 12 or 10mm punch to punch out circles, if that'll work.
