Hi there,
I'm new on this forum and I'm not a native English speaker, so please be indulgent with my language.
I was really enthusiastic to paint two armies from late roman pendraken range. The aim of this huge project was to recreate the conflict occurring in current France, the late Gallo-roman territory during the late IV and the beginning of V centuries.
This period is really fascinating for wargamers as several usurpers tried (or succeed) to defeat the imperial authorities of West Roman empire (Constantin III with the legions from Britain, Jovin, Maxime, Sebastianus etc..)
So I decided to build up two forces in this area. :P
An imperial army from Italia:
- 4 auxilia palatinae
- 3 comitatens
- 3 palatinae
- 2 cataphractarii
- 2 clibanarii sagitarii
- 5 sagitarii
- 2 equites scutarii
- 2 equites scholae palatinae
- 1 equites promoti
- 1 equites dalmatae
The heteroclite army of an usurper
- 5 pseudocomitatens
- 3 limitanei
- 4 germanic warbands
- 3 excultatores
- 3 funditores
- 2 sagitarii
- 3 equites scutarii
- 2 equites promoti
- 4 cataphractarii
- 2 hunnic light cavalry
- 1 heavy lancers (sarmato-alains or taifale)

Hello and welcome.
Hi Mathieu, welcome to the Forum!
Some of the pictures are missing for me, anyone else having that problem? They all appear through the direct links without any trouble.
Hi Mathieu
Welcome.
Now that is how a wargame should look! Excellent work.
What rules do you use?
Cheers Paul
Those are wonderful armies, well done :)
Welcome, and congratulations both on your armies and your English! Both excellent. I would also be interested in the rules you use.

Welcome. Fantastic looking armies, great to see lots of the late roman figures on the table.
I'm guessing you might be playing Impetus, due to the bases, but I'm not sure.
That's the dogs bollocks that is. Great stuff :-bd
Welcome to the forum and an impressive first post! Love the pictures. :-bd

Thanks all for the comment ! :)
Now this project is accomplished, a friend of mine painted some late roman refs in an "unordered way"(especially saxon militia) in order to represent wisigoth troups.
We plan to mainly use king of war, with our own lists and some special rules such as shield wall for e.g.
In our list, there is only one possibility for unit size and we also modified the rules for the chief.
We can also play with hail Caesar, we have often played this system in 28 mm.
Cheers
Mathieu
Welcome :-h

Woah, that looks amazing!
That looks a rather spectacular collection :-bd
C'est magnifique.
Really impressive work and the result is inspiring. Just when I thought I was managing to avoid being sucked into doing romans, after seeing your work I am just going to have to take another look :)
These are really really nicely painted armies 👍👍👍
Wow great armies and great table too. Your painting is simply superb and makes pop up the minis, not a simple task when using small size as 10mm.
Keep it up!
