Well for me it was:
'Charge! or How to Play Wargames' by Young & Lawford
'Battlegroup' new hardback rulebook by Warwick Kinrade
Saga Rules and the Raven's Shadow supplement from my brother and the DK World War I Definitive Visual Guide from my daughter and son-in-law. Lots to get stuck into.
S.W.E.E.T. F.A.
as I mistakenly opened them on my birthday the other week. I couldn't see the point in rewrapping them ;D
IE Shima 1945 (US landing on Japanese held Island) boardgame by Revolution games.
A nice set of 10 books from the Battle Stories series ( The History Press and now in paperback )....... waterloo will be read first (again!)
And some rather fine East Front and ACW buildings from Pendrakens Epsilon range.
Huge amount of chocolate, some socks, many many many Pendraken figures!
An airbrush spray booth - very compact, most excellent.
Some real [not kindle] books (The Wars of Alexander's Successors 323-281 BC Volume I: Commanders & Campaigns and Volume II: Battles & Tactics and Everything Worked Like Clockwork - The Mechanizaton of British Regular and Household Cavalry 1918-1942)
A D&D Book - Out of the Abyss
A portable battery charge pack for phone and tablet
The usual assortment of socks, pants, handkerchiefs and cufflinks
And as usual the assorted kickstarter and impulse splurge boxes that had been left aside to be wrapped for Christmas - most notably my Hellenistic kickstarter splurge with FIB, a huge box of pike and elephant goodness. Plus some Hawk DZC stuff. Not much PD this year, just some Napoleonic in fills (French 12pdrs, howitzers and lanciers, yay!) - but I have completed the large ECW Baroque project on time, ready to start the next project in the New Year.

many many many Pendraken figures!
Details, man. Details.
Myself, I did rather well on the gaming front:
* Escape from Colditz board game - this has very impressive production values.
* The Men Who Would be Kings Osprey Rules
* The Kingdom is Ours - ECW rules
* Peter Dennis Wars of the Roses - paper figures and rules
* Pendraken Farm Animals and Civilians (the new releases) - my daughter had fun trying to guess the tiny animals. (The cats and rabbits are very small!)
* Lots of Brigade Models 6mm Sci Fi buildings
* Lots of brown craft paint, a knife set and some super glue
* Another Arnhem book (this one is a collection of academic papers)
A relative amount of peace and quiet.
(We tend not to DO prezzies........Just get 'things' as and when.)
We did treat ourselves to the latest season of NCIS weeks ago....Which we counted as a Christmas pressie.
And I did get sent ' a book'......But that had a note inside which said "This is not a present." ;D
Cheers - Phil.
Peace and quiet are not to be underestimated.

What's it like? I rather like his Crusades rules.

Details, man. Details.
* Pendraken Dark Age Civilians (the new releases) - will go on my camp base with many animals (on order, when
Leon speaks to me again).
* Pendraken Picts (various infantry enough for the sixth spear unit that got assembled last night) plus two packs of cavalry (some already assembled and undercoated as a general). Yes, I know Phil, but over 400 of them now, think they've paid their way!
* Republican Roman Triarii (also assembled last night, both undercoated today)
* Republican Roman Hastati (which will be assembled today)
* Republican Roman cavalry (5 figures to complete a unit, assembled and undercoated already).
Detailed enough Forbes? ;)
Oh, and a 'Tumbling Dice' Carthaginian galley army-fleet-starter-type-pack! :d
Soon to face off cause my Romans!
An excellent watch from Mrs Orcs
20mm Field defences, 15mm shanty town buildings and barbed wire from Ironclad miniatures
Beer
Scalpel with a retracting blade
Smellies
Books
From me to me
a Tiny terrain cloth - that fits new 9 foot dining table ( now theres a coincidence )
Some Mithril miniatures

What colour are the shields?
:P
A jolly good seafood dinner in Pisa, followed by rather a large amaretto - Italians never believe me when I say I want a small glass, not a pint. No wonder that tower is leaning over a bit.
Basic Impetus 2, got this early as I had chance to fit a couple of games in, great fun.
From me to me, Pendraken ACW army pack, picking this up from the big club game on Friday.
New daysack for our walks plus some socks.
Star Trek DVD
Book of walks in Switzerland, guess where we are going next summer?
Lots of chocolate etc...

White- they're only undercoated at the moment! :P
The "Kalidasa" and "Blue Sun" expansions for the Firefly board game from my folks (they gave me cash and told me to buy something :) ), a quarter bottle of bourbon brought in person from New York by my younger son, a bottle of Jack Daniels from my older boy and his wife (theme developing here!), Lindt Chocolate bear and a copy of Poseidon's Warriors from my best friend, box of M&S Christmas "treats" and a calendar (featuring my nephew) from my sister.
Had my usual Boxing Day family lunch but in two sittings as my mother was taken poorly overnight and spent the late morning/ early afternoon in hospital (she's fine now) so my parents and sister arrived late afternoon and had lunch then! My niece, nephew and his wife turned up unexpectedly an hour or so later (already fed and watered, thank goodness!) so there was quite a houseful. My nephew and his wife had come across from China without telling anyone in the family except my niece and she was "smuggling" them in to family gatherings.
Had a brilliant and emotional day and am now utterly knackered!!!
Race you with Poseidon' Warriors!
Gin, beer, gin, rivers, roads both 3cm across, Pratchetts.
Gaming stuff: mini dice tower and Dragon Rampant rules :)
Also received Bill Bailey's bird book and Ben Aaronovitch's (first) Peter Grant graphic novel.
Admittedly the Bill Bailey book was the only one I didn't buy myself, but very happy with that lot :D

Still deciding which scale/ make of ships to get tbh so I think you're in with a shout there.
I'm considering adapting it to use my blue hex mat. Looks like it would work quite well. Will post pics and an AAR sometime in 2020 when I finally get something done :)
Ma Subs said what do you want so I ordered
'The Mongol Invasions of Japan' by Mark Winchester (self explanatory)
'William Rubruck's Account of the Mongols' by Rana Saad (Invasion of Europe in 1241)
'Chingis Khan Rides West' by Don Croner (about the Kharizmian Campaign 1215-1221)
Haven't read any of them yet.
Other stuff:
A Celtic knot earring, smellies, slippers, a couple of diddley-d's and more smellies (hmmm, I'm beginning to wonder). We also had some joint prezzies.
MickS
Just spent my Colonel Bills staff Christmas bonus.
Obviously the money went on tabletop gaming items :D
Skywalker, I'll definitely be coming over to your club to play X-Wing now. Bodvoc ... do you want to play X-Wing if I provide the stuff...? :-SS
:)
Happy to play X wing Roy, I have quite a bit of stuff myself.
Nothing game related (again for the 48th successive year) but did get lots of Vespa related goodies ;)
I can now include Pendraken ACW to my xmas purchases presents. (I had to wait to receive them from a club mate who'd picked them up from Pendraken Towers pre-xmas closer)

Isn't that illegal? :)
Nothing gaming related, but I have cashed in some of the Amazon vouchers towards a copy of One Hour Wargames. Just waiting for it to turn up now. Hoping it will kick-start some enthusiasm.
And a bottle or rum to warm my tum . . .
Cheers, Martyn

15mm British Infantry for my French Revolution project
New Green Bay Packers hat
Pre-dreadnoughts from Tumbling Dice
Amazon gift voucher
Subscription to Find My Past
A promise from my son to buy 'Decision on the Mincio' when available
Those Tumbling Dice predreds are rather nice
Extending this to sale purchases:
Each of these cost me £10 new, seeing them like this one feels rather less good value...
* Pirates of Nassau board game (very heavy)
* 3 x 4L Really Useful Boxes
* Max Hastings book on WWII Espionage and Spies
So as usual i get lots of cash as presents, and afterwards i get to pick what i want.
Been browsing catalogues for a few days, and finally ordered what i wanted this morning. There are minimal miniatures, like i promised when i anounced this year to be all about painting my collection.
- tank expansion for the great war (prepainted so doesn't count :D )
- a pack of whippets (prepainted so doesn't count :D )
- uncharted empires book for kings of war (really want to use my scratch built ghosts so i need the night stalkers army lists)
- flock
- some warpaints
- a new detail brush from the army painter's wargamer series
- some card sleeves
- 6 sprues of line lancers from warlord games (all single sprues 50% off untill the weekend, can't resist that! )
Now i am waiting for Leon to start work again so i can have a pack of custom bases and some more paint from minibits!
So surprisingly only 12 miniatures that i have to paint (+ the artillery in the tank expansion, they are unpainted as well). But i'm getting some good stuff to do the actual painting (and basing)!
Camberley now has a games store again, so with some Christmas Ca$h I treated myself to some Reaper Bones Vermin Swarms (rats, beetles and spiders) and a Reaper metal 28mm baby Dragon to help populate my dungeon, as well as a Javis desert battle mat - which looks like quite a good match for my Sci-Fi bases - and a d24.
Now I just need to find a game that uses d24s and I'll be laughing... :-\

So i just splashed the remainder of my holiday cash on:
-paints,bases and dice from minibits
-a gw lord of the rings cave troll
-a reaper bones mountain troll
i'm going to use the last one as a mordor troll, think he looks ok for that!
it's this one:

He's not due for quite some time (courtesy of Pendant's Corner).
Only 349 days until Christmas!!
A leather-bound measuring tape was my only remotely wargaming-related present.
N
Okay... All I can think of for that would be an old school PE tape!
