Title: 28mm french line infantry (waterloo)
Post by: petercooman on 18 December 2016, 07:36:48 PM
Painted my first 6 men from crisis, got 24 more to paint after these.

When i bought Nik's army, there was one battalion  that had only three bases, and my rules use 4 base units, so i had to add another base. While i was at it, i reorganised the rest of the infantry too, as i wanted to have an equal amount of grenadiers and voltigeurs in each battalion.

By re-arranging the miniatures, i was able to distribute the 6 extra men over 3 different battalions, hoping that would hide them a bit better with their different painting style.

The 6 men

At a distance:

added to the bases togheter with the other figures

And one in a regiment:

All in all, i think they blend in very well. While i was at it, i also painted every shako pompom in the corresponding company colour, and repainted the plumes and epaulettes of the grenadiers and voltigeurs.

Now all i have to do is paint another line regiment and i can call these complete for now.

Also worth mentioning, that the ones i got are from warlord games, and the ones i got from Nik are perry sculpts, and in the pictures you can clearly see they are a bit bigger.

I don't mind, but just thought i'd mention it.

Thanks! significantly faster than their british counterparts too! Long live the lousy weather here in Belgium, forced those frenchmen to put on their greatcoats and made it easier to paint tem 200 years later  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

With the end in sight, i started work on my last battalion today. Went big and started them all at once:

Hope to have them finished by the start of next week, so i can use my holidays for someting else. got a lot of stuff lying about waiting to be painted! (including 3 rooms in the house  :'( )

Damn it, now I want to do some BIG SCALE stuff, and I have a paint queue over flowing as is!

And a "want to game but never will" queue.

Think they blend very well, although I couldn't quite work out what was bugging me until you mentioned the size difference - wierdly once that clicked they looked fine :D

Yeah, it's a bit annoying, but this is the only time they go on a base togheter. For the entire warlord games battalions I have thinner bases than the est of the army, so yo can hardly tell.

I got enough myself, some 6 mm, 10mm, 15 and 28's. I think my holiday will be too short!

Luckily I only had to work 2 days in the first week of the year and two in the second week. Might catch up a bit then
