Title: next scenery item started (28mm)
Post by: petercooman on 28 November 2016, 12:21:17 PM
Got my next little project underway, a little statue centerpiece for my village.

Had a spare queen mathilde of flanders from crisis, so i used her as statue:

(http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff441/petercooman123/temporary_zpselwxp4ly.jpg) (http://s1236.photobucket.com/user/petercooman123/media/temporary_zpselwxp4ly.jpg.html)

(http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff441/petercooman123/temporary_zpsnnyuqbgb.jpg) (http://s1236.photobucket.com/user/petercooman123/media/temporary_zpsnnyuqbgb.jpg.html)

I willtry to get a water effect around the statue, and inside the hedge i will try some coloured flock to represent little flowers.

And dirty up your cutting mat !

It's disgracefully clean.  ;) ;D

Statue should work nicely, Peter.....Look forward  to seeing that finished.

Haven't we all?

Looking forward to seeing that completed. Will Her Maj be bronze or marble?

Just poured my water mix in, very curious how it will look once it's dry. if i don't like it i'll just wash it brown and give it a dirty finish!

Like it - but think the statue needs a seagull perched on it.  :)

Funny you should say that, I've been looking through my bits box because I think I have a little crow somewhere. But I can't remember if I used it already...

Not going so well.

Seems some ofthe paint has flaked off in front of the statue and is starting to drift in the water. Triedto get it out, but already stiffening so doesn't work. We'll see how it goes. Maybe i'll just have to pour some more on it once this layer is dry, will perhaps cover it up.

Perhaps give the paint longer to dry before adding the water effect :-\

I decided to paint it the same as my bases for now. Maybe add some flowers or lichen?

Or just add nothing and see about the water another time (already moved on and building a 2 storey house)

Next one put togheter just now, ready to do the interior and then spackle it. Then on to the dreaded roof tiles  ;D ;D

The windows and door are plastic bits, and are left off for ease of painting. and the base is not too big, i'll be adding some trees to the side of this one so provided extra space.

Define too far  :D

After this one i'll probably make a tavern and some ruined corner sections. If i have enough material left i'll probably make another building. I want 5-6 pieces for a small table to use in song of blades and heroes, or combine them with plastic ruins and card houses for mordheim.

Errrrrm  :-[.....Making it too 'fussy', Peter, which I think might start spoiling what you've already done. (Which I genuinely like)
Does that make sense ?.....Probably not.  X_X

Yeah that makes sense. I've left it as it I for now, will think about it while I finish the house.

An other option with the fountain might be to have a colossal crack in the fountain, so all the water has drained out?

Not a bad idea  :-

I'll get back to it. I still have enough parts to make a second one too. I want to make one with my spare model of king albert the 1st, but I fear it will be too specific and won't see much use.

My most insane solution was to magnetize the top and make the statues changeable to fit my games

So i went a bit overboard after finishing the roof, and made furniture for the interior.

I feel like playing with a dollhouse now  ;D ;D ;D

I'm still thinking this through, as i used a 20mm square base for the statue top, this would mean i could end up with an army of stone golems.  :- :-

So i textured the walls today, and while waiting for it to dry, i started the " interchangeable statue of doom" ™

Got 5 models that will get the statue treatment. For now i've gotten as far as texturing the statue base, and now have to wait untill it is dry.

We got Leopold II (probably for darkest africa games)

Then we have a high elf for fantasy, a Albert I for ww2 or later and peter minuit just because i had him and didn't find a use.

And for poops and giggles i made an evil empire  marine statue. now i just have to paint it gold   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks all!

The interiors are not really up there in details, nut they won't see as much use. For games like kings of war they will not be used so i made them quick jobs. Still looks better than an empty house though!

I'll be putting my plans for these on the backburner a bit now, seeing as i have a few buildings done and ready to play, and i need to get some models painted now. Hope to have that done pretty fast, so i can restart these!
