A few pictures from our club game last week. A play test of the Ramillies game we are planning for Battlleground. Good game and trial run which highlighted some issues and tweaks we need to make.
Obviously another WSS bash, apologies for posting this period again, but we only currently collect WSS in 10mm. However, I have my eye on ECW as my next project if I can convince the other fellas (or at least one) at the club to give it a bash.
If you are at Battleground pop along and say hi. We will be the fellas playing WSS whilst wearing Tricorns (not my idea!)

Due to an hour of chatting during setup and some relaxed dice rolling we had to call it a night just as the Confederate and Bourbon centres clashed near Offus.
We'll make a few tweaks and paint up the last few units and will have another trial game or 2 before the the day. With battleground being all day we should have plenty of time to finish the game...... even with all the chatting at shows 😀
Each infantry represented 2 battalions on the day. Whilst each cavalry base represented 3 to 4 cavalry squadrons

No need to apologies for showing more WSS - its a great looking game with loads of stuff on the table, what's not to like.
Where are your roads from? I do like the look of them.
As above! 8)

Hanged if I can see any reason to apologise for such tasty eye-candy. Though I don't like the little marker chips, speaking aesthetically.
Absolutely lovely looking game. I especially like how y'all based up your units. :-bd
150mm x 50mm bases?
Splendid stuff, once again ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil
Superb looking game 8). What rules are you using?

Thanks - I keep hearing good things about Fat Frank. I think it's time to invest in improving the look of my table a bit.
Apologise !! Damn it sir we salute you, cracking figures and terrain, splendid stuff, MORE PLEASE.

Black powder. Works well for this period as long as each player has 2-3 divisions so if you fail a command roll you get another couple of attempts to move or do something

Great visual of what a wargame should look like. Well done!
MickS
looks a fantastic setup
Take care

Bloody marvellous, AND looks like there's hope to play to an actual resolution in time available!
Very nice :)

Blooming well brilliant! Will certainly be coming over to see it at Stockton.
As to the headwear. Don't worry.
Dave Docherty will probably have people wearing Fez's
[sweepstake on how many Tommy Cooper impressions are made on the day!]
Or the Westerhope boys might have people wearing Kamikaze headscarfs.
Then there's the reenactors in period hats.
Leon, does your show have a mandatory requirement of people wearing funny hats? <)
Wow. Simply inspirational. I could gawp at this for hours.
Both the figures are terrain are magnificent. I'm interested
in the villages. I assume these are Total Battle Miniatures ?
Fantastic - more of the same.
Phil
In the photo titled "The mass cavalry fight on the plains near Ramillies",
there is an interesting cavalry Regiment in yellow. A close up would be
great if this is possible.
(They are on the left hand side in the centre of the brigade closest to
the road.)
More photos please (close ups if possible).

Glad we won't be the only ones looking like numpties 😀
Surely wearing a daft hat should be a mandatory requirement for attending

Chees Phil. Correct Ramillies, Offus and Autre Eglise are all Total Battle Miniatures packs purchased from Pendraken. Ramillies is a village (5 buildings) whilst the others are hamlets (3 buildings).
I picked up a Town (7 buildings) from Leon at Derby which we will be using at Battleground.
Perky (forum name) has a large confederate Army and also paints the buildings for us.

Hi Phil, they would be a regiment of French Dragoons using the super LOA recent release. They are awesome figures and my favourite in the army

Really nice to see the figures up close and personal
- lovely minis and excellent brushwork.
Thanks again,

:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
No apologies required, very impressive =D>
I am inclined to agree with FK :o I did find the marker chips, particularly the yellow ones, a little distracting
I also noticed the edge of the base cloth and a few roads curling up, a little blu tack might reduce that
Finally I'm not a fan of table clutter, particularly for a demo game, a few spare chairs are a good place to have them handy but off the table
I hope you don't mind my suggestions aimed at enhancing a really impressive demonstration game that shows off our hobby really well
I find MDF counters a lot less intrusive if they are left in their natural, woody colour
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g440/dourpuritan/ACW%2015mm/IMG_1741_zps6zabsmgu.jpg)
As a punter at a wargames show, if I'm invited to play a participation game that doesn't have dice, tape measures, quick ref sheets and at least one coke can on it I make my excuses and move on as fast as possible.
Tokens should be easily visible, not require me to hunt for them.
YMMV!
Looks absolutely fantastic. =D> =D>
As for wearing tricorns, what else would one wear when gaming the WSS? ;)
No man with a good tricorne needs to be justified :)
Lovely figures, great hats :D
Tricorn ordered from eBay. Only £7... who would have guessed 😀

150mm x 50mm bases?
Hi, apologies for the delay.
Base width is 95mm and depth of 37mm for infantry and cavalry
Artillery width is 95mm and depth of 50mm
The smaller multi bases (3 bases per unit) we use as 'garrison troops in towns use the small FOW command base size
Cheers

* Saw off some pesky native postcard sellers with a volley of black powder - CHECK
* Caused a riot in native village, on them seeing seeing off of local postcard sellers - CHECK
* Disappeared for Lunch when it came to crowd control of rioting villagers - CHECK
* Jumped from being with the Camelry to the Bengal Lancers when it looked they'd reach the damsel in distress first - CHECK
* Made sure (from an Englishman's point of view) that the Scotsmen didn't reach the lady first - CHECK ;)
* Won the day playing the white knight, leaving others to tidy up my mess, getting back to camp in time for tiffin along with the General's Daughter - CHECK
Damn right I earned that VC. ;)
