Title: 1866 ... again
Post by: cameronian on 30 September 2016, 12:53:01 PM
I've just received the programme of events scheduled for November 5th in Koniggratz from my friend in the Monuments Committee. Franz Josef visited the battlefield in November 1866, commiserated with the peasants, attended a requiem etc etc so the good people of the 1866 committee have organised a shadow event to commemorate this.

9.15 am Emperor arrives at station to be met by local dignitaries.

10.00 am Military parade, inspection of station buildings, tour of battlefield etc

11.30 am Emperor will have lunch in a pub in Chlum.

Now that's my kind of Emperor  ;D

Nice early start to lunch, gives you a good run up for the afternoons celebrating. Fine choice!

Lets hope that he has Helena with him to get him to the top of the queue, as she did for us.

Unbelievably awful home made podcast, Austrian Corps were 85,000 strong, Jicin lasted three days  :o

Later; Mollinary was Festetics COS, it was Bonin's division that was involved in the Svib ... this is mind boggling (amusingly he cites Wawro as his main source/influence)

Apparently Koniggratz was the largest European battle before the Battle of the Somme in 1914!  ????????

Mollinary was being ironic Leman, he knows the Somme was in 1916, its just his slightly dry sense of humour.

He should be doing Palestine 1917 rather than Bohemia 1866.
