Title: Something for the weekend?
Post by: Orcs on 16 September 2016, 07:47:36 AM
Now I have your attention, what are Forum members up to this weekend.

I am:-
Getting my new glasses sorted out
Holiday shopping.
Watch F1 Highlights
and joy of joys - mow the lawn if weather permits. ( If not finish painting and basing  15mm AK47 stuff)

Don't I live an exciting life :)

Painting, music, a game or two, getting laid. Anyone got a different agenda?

No,  we all have that one on the agenda, but I was trying (unusually) to keep the discussion at least as high as the gutter  :)

Chores, chores and more chores...(Cleaning the outside of Techno Towers, and cleaning out the gutters.....weather permitting) and falling asleep in front of the TV.......If I'm really lucky.

Cheers - Phil

Think this is more accurate.

Watch F1 practice and race.

Paint sabots for first unit, paint second unit, glue third unit.

Plaster some fort walls.

Teach my 6 week old grandson the finer points of Old School wargaming.

Some of that will take longer than the weekend.

"life laundry" - which often equate with real laundry
Painting knees and other bits of some 1920s Brits
Ignoring the F1 and any other sport on TV  :-&
Cleaning out the hamster and wondering why she's not dead yet (she's very old) and can I sell her to a research body as a project on longevity
Making friends with the cats again because I haven't really spoken to them since last weekend

but ...

Pendraken Order Day!  :D Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! - Don't know what I'm going to order. Is that Humber A/C available yet?

Well, birthday party for the wee one's friend and outlaws for the wee one's own birthday round of "seeing all the relatives" on Sat, then Peak Farm and Alton Towers overnight Sunday, and full Alton Towers on Monday!

Back to work Tuesday, which is a shame as I'll need a rest by then :D

Apart from going to a wedding on Sunday, quick 'aperitif' at the pub tonight and hoovering the house Saturday (I wonder if I'll wear the Butler's outfit this time? Or maybe the French Maid's? Naw. I'll let the wife wear that one), hopefully a relatively relaxing weekend. Last 3 days have been spent dealing with the front lawn (or should I say the front moss?), building tables for daughter, cutting daughter's lawn, cutting lawnmower cable whilst cutting daughter's lawn (was trying to avoid a pile of particularly fresh and pungent cat poo and took my eye off the cable's location), jumping in car to head back to my home (half hour round trip) for spare plug, tools, etc., back to daughter's house, added new plug to the cable stump, finished cutting lawn, then home to cut own back lawn (or should that be the back moss also?) in fading light. Retirement? That's a laugh.

P.S. But good news is, I'm off to the USA next week for a short road trip around Pennsylvania and Maryland. Yee hoo! And also got the Osprey Philadelphia 1777 in post today! Yee hoo (again)! Plan to visit the Brandywine Battle site next week so better get reading - now!

Going by the current news items I would stay off the rides if I were you.  :)

Me, do some reading, writing, probably help Ma Subs with some housey orientated jobs, watch MotD on Saturday night and see the Irons probably get beaten by the Baggies at the Hawthorns. Don't do motor racing at all. We might go out for a wander if the weather gets better.

Yeah, that was nasty - they've had to shed a couple of hundred jobs to keep profits up :/

The CBeebies rides appear fine mind :D

A game of the "Nations" board game tonight.

Multiplayer "Company of Heroes 2" computer game tomorrow, taking on friends who have also just bought COH2 "cheap" in the Steam sale. A case of lions lead by donkeys if ever there was!!

"Deadman's Hand" game on Sunday, if the man with the rules has learned the rules well enough. Otherwise we'll revert to "Legends of the Old West."

All interspersed with some catch up phone calls, planning gaming/ cinema trip(s)/ afternoon teas for the week ahead, TV, radio, reading, cooking, cleaning and if I'm really, really motivated .... a bit of painting.

Having a trip with the Mrs to London, planning on visiting Bletchley Park on Monday and meeting up for a beer or 6 with a old friend.
So no gaming related fun this weekend :-\ :-\

The kids decided to bring me a virus home from school so I've been out of action for most of this week.  As a result, this weekend will be mainly work, plus some work if there's time, with the possibility of some more work if I get a spare minute...  :D  I will try and watch the Middlesbrough game tomorrow evening though.

Well Leon, at least you can't say your kids never gave you anything :-)

Hope you're feeling better and that you find at least a little time for yourself.

Just to clarify :-

When I said I was trying to keep this thread "up to the gutter" it was not roof gutters I had in mind, but the one in the road.

It might be safer to send the MIL up there Phil, she is less likely to fall.  :)

Hoping for the rain to keep off as I am off to look at Edgehill, Cropredy Bridge and Naseby in an away weekend! Never been to Edgehill before, so have been reading like mad, including Glen Foard's amazing book on Battlefield archaeology of the ECW, which switches the armies through 90degrees!

It's happening as planned. Big Japanese set-to. The Oda are flexing their muscles to thump the Takeda.

Hi
Well  a busy weekend for me.
Saturday attending my sons silver scout award ceremony in Durham town hall.
Sunday attending his judo grading.
The things you do for your kids.

Do the scouts know beforehand where the ceremony is or are they dumped in the middle of a forest and have to  find their way to the awards by looking out for signals and markers made out if twigs? First 50 to make it get the award
