Title: ACW dust up
Post by: slimreidy1 on 06 September 2016, 09:21:53 AM
Before I went on my holidays a week ago we ran another Blackpowder game using the Glory Hallelujah supplement to fight a scenario (my dad had found amongst his mountain of paper work ) based around the fight for the town of Rogersville. I have the usual photos of the action on my blog if you want to check It out on the following link.

Thanks 😄

You troops and games are just brilliant. Thank you for another great report.

TBH I thought that was a belting report, as a picture says a thousand words. I particularly liked the newspaper extract at the end - a really nice touch. the battle itself looked really good.

Agreed. Another great report, Slim.  :-bd

Also lucky that the Balloon Corps was in the area at the same time The New York Times photographer was there!  :P

As the others say its a good style of AAR report - the summary at the top, then captions for the photos works well.

Great looking figures too.

Glad to hear you are getting good ACW battles from BP, we tried it (with 28mm figures) and were very underwhelmed. Does the period supplement add a lot of extra detail? I have the WSS supplement and its mainly army lists, very little in the way of rules changes or additions.

Fred - the supplement does add a great deal of extra pertinent material and I think it does rather a better job than the Argument of Kings supplement did for the C18th. this is probably because it covers only four years.

Excellent pics and report. The rebel brigade in particular is great looking. Liked the civilian sightseers (or maybe refugees?) watching the battle at a distance. Nice touch.

Thanks

We didn't get far with alternative ACW rules - not least because the two people with most of the figures seemed to want to play at very different representational scales to each other. And those of us looking at rules seemed to be looking for something different again.  :o

Really nice report.  I like the look of ACW in the scale.
