Title: ECW Highlanders?
Post by: Nick B on 07 August 2016, 10:26:57 PM
After a great game of Baroque with Nosher I've been bitten by the bug. I quite fancy doing a Monrose Scots army but can't see any appropriate packs for Highlanders (warband) - could someone point me in the right direction, please. Or were these the pack now listed as withdrawn?

Cheers

Nick

Could you use any from the Jacobite Scots range?

These are what I used for the same thing, a combination of ER4 archers (bare-headed ones), JS2 Lochaber axe men, JS4 which has the swordsmen (officer and ensign a bit too 18th century) scattering the odd musket from JS2 as well but I left the muskets to the Irish mainly.  EC19 command with a 'highland' look OK.  There's a piper in one of the medieval foot commands. Remember that pipe bands are a Victorian invention, pipers were the personal musicians of the clan chiefs, so one on a command stand with MacColla would likely do the job.  Oh, and forget about tartans.

For flags use http://www.pendraken.co.uk/PNFL114-p7369/

The highlanders flags on Pendrakens Montrose sheet are based upon an article in P&SS Arquebusier XXII / II
The only exception being the Robertson one, being my interpretation based upon their heraldry.
