I am tempted by the Baroque rules and pendrake figures for the period but I know next to nothing about it.

I have just finished, well almost, two armies for the LoA. Great figures to paint and lovely choice of uniforms....there is a good blog out the by Ray 'Don't Roll 1s', check him out for some uniform guides.
Not played Baroque but did a game recently with Warlords Pike and Shotte, it worked very well and gave a really good game.
Pike and Shotte are my favourite rules set currently, always get a great game from them.
