Well, Last week was one of the best ever. On Thursday we went to London to see our son Play Ray Davies in the Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon...and then the Ramblin Man festival last weekend here was a complete blast. I was lucky enough to go with a mate of mine who has his own media company so got in on a Press Pass for both days. Highlight of the weekend was a chat to Gary Brooker of Procol Harum, saw Uriah Heep, Hawkwind, Europe, Whitesnake, Family and a whole load of other bands that are 'Up and Coming'. Only managed to take over 2,000 pictures, some are complete cr*p but loads of gooduns. Even saw a couple I used to know in Brum -small world or what. Knackering but brilliant at the same time.

Top!
Sounds great fun.

Sounds like my idea of 2nd heaven. The 1st heaven is wargaming ;D ;D ;D
Seconded ;)
Rambling Man was supposed to be really good! Cracking, and grats/break a leg to Subs-Junior :)
Definitely a good few days for you. We had a small bits of good news when our daughter passed her driving test first time :)
Are you sure that's good news :-\
Subedai: Sounds like a great festival, top marks for your son as well.
Steve J: Quote from a friend's 18 yo daughter after passing her test "You can't expect me to be driving you all over the place now!"
Very good Sunjester ;D ;D ;D

I remember an exchange between a friend and his five-year-old daughter:
- Sweetie, won't you pass daddy that hammer?- I'm not your slave, you know!
Sounds like a jolly time. Hope you were wearing flares.

My eldest said to me at a similar age when asked to do something. "what did your last slave die of"
I replied "Disobedience". :)

I had that exchange with both my kids when they were young ;) ;D ;D
Hawkwind's latest album is quite good, did they play much of it or was it mainly older stuff?

Not really a mad Hawkwind fan but I like some of their earlier stuff. They started with a lengthy version of 'All Hail the Machine' then a few others I didn't recognise which were -if I remember correctly- from the new album; then 'The Spirit of the Age' and 'Shot Down in the Night' then a few more. The climax was 'Silver Machine' which inevitably got a great response from the crowd.
I really went to see, hear and photograph Uriah Heep and Procul Harum, the rest were a bonus.
If you like your music to be a little on the psychedelic side then check out a group named Purson, very good. The lead singer reminded me of Annie Haslem from Renaissance and they sound a bit like Curved Air.

Hi Mick.
I presume Mick Box is the only remaining original band member left ?
I know David Byron and Gary Thain died quite a long time ago, and the last time I heard of him......Ken Hensley was in Blackfoot.

Just listened to Desire's Magic Theatre on Spotify, quite good. Now on my list to buy :-)

Yep, that's true about Mick Box being the last original.
Back to Purson, I'm listening to The Circle and the Blue Door at the mo, their debut album. (Also, the lead singer, Rosalie Cunningham, is from Southend, my home town so that's another plus.)

Purson remind me a little of All About Eve, with a bit of Souixsie-esque vocals. Will see if they are touring next April/May when I'm in the UK next
Cheers
