Title: Thoughts on painting tanks
Post by: d_Guy on 25 July 2016, 01:07:40 PM
I did not wish to disrupt a serious thread elsewhere but did want to share some thoughts on painting tanks:

1. Teamwork is essential.
2. Aluminum extension handles for the brushes are easiest to use.
3. Have the scaffolding (hoarding?) professionally rigged.
4. Don't look down!

The shading on those cylinders is well done.

Great question. For new tanks a high pressure (say 3500 psi) water wash with about a 20 degree spray distribution is usually sufficient.
If a repaint then it is more a trail-and-error process.

Thanks! Photographing in a light-box helps emphasize the shading.

Oops! For many years now spelling has been by trail and error.
