Title: Glory Hallelujah ACW AAR
Post by: slimreidy1 on 25 June 2016, 02:27:04 PM
This week saw us turn our attention to the ACW as we were keen to try our hand at the new Warlord games supplement GLORY HALLELUJAH for black powder rules. My dad had been previously using rank and file rules but felt this supplement with all the amendments to the Blackpowder rules would show a good reflection of fighting the ACW period. For a AAR head over to my blog on the following link where there are plenty of photos of the game, here are a couple of photos of the action,  :) cheers

Thanks, I enjoyed the read, I was interested in your observation that charging is harder - do you think it feels about right?

I've now taken the trouble to read through the AAR and found it very interesting. I have played a game of GH already, but judging from your report I don't think I had a proper handle on the supplementary rules, so I shall now be looking to have another go. I have to say I think the GH supplement is much better than the C18th one, possibly because it's focus is more limited.

Excellent report with some lovely figures & terrain.

Can I ask - how did you make the orange/yellow (wheat ?) fields.   These really
do look the part and they're not too tall like some I've seen.

The fields my dad bought from model zone, they are part of the model train terrain section, the material comes in rolls so my dad just cut them to size he wanted.

Yeah I think it grabs the feel for the period quite well, it is possible still to charge but your going to suffer minus to your command throw for a frontal charge, it definitely encourages you to get close to fire fight.

I agree, it definetly changed the feel from a regular black powder game

Thanks for the heads up.   I've found the site and will try to track this down.

Thanks again,

Phil

I thought Model Zone was another victim of 2008. Certainly the Liverpool and Newcastle branches have gone. Great loss as it was Vallejo paints, Woodland Scenics, Hornby buildings etc on the doorstep.

Hi, your right the shops did close but WH Smiths at the metro centre has a model zone section upstairs.

No such luck in Liverpool. At least there is now a 'faeries and ironmen  at war' shop in Southport which stocks Vallejo.
