Title: Question: flagstaff colours
Post by: FierceKitty on 22 June 2016, 04:59:42 AM
I feel a right wally not knowing this, but should a flagstaff be painted? I'm thinking mainly SYW Austrians and Prussians.

Yes they would normally be painted, for protective purposes. I have no idea what colour though.

Some were studded velvet.

Honour to those whose painting would show a difference, but I'm not one of them. If I can just find out the colour, I'll be satisfied.

Mine (of any period, tbh) tend to be in either chestnut or light wood, depending on what looks better with the figure. Unless I've definite info, in which case they're that colour :D

Bit like drums... very often the only info you can find is for everything except the useful colour scheme!

SYW Prussians vary according to regiment. When I have more time I can give you those you want.

Have a look here under Armies, to my mind it is the bible of 7YW info. It lists info for all regiments including standards and pole colours.

Kronoskaf is invaluable :D

Even for out of period stuff there's usually something on the unit info and other pages!
