Title: A question about the SYW field officers
Post by: alexmac207 on 13 June 2016, 07:02:50 PM
I have some SYW Austrian field officers that I ordered. I was wondering if they have different
poses from the Prussian SYW field officers? Are the figures more or less the same?

I need to put together the command staff for my SYW Austrian and Prussian armies and am
concerned that all the commanders will look identical.

What  have other people done to give their armies some character?

First off - yes the field officers only come in one pose. However I found that my Prussians were wearing very Austrian-like uniforms whilst the Austrians were wearing much tighter Prussian style uniforms. Look at the figure carefully before painting. I swapped mine round. I have mixed up field officers with commanders and also the generic general and aide to give a bit of variety to command stands. My lowest level of command always has two figures. Some examples:

Very nice leman! I think I will follow your example.

I know I can always count on you for a learned answer either here or on the HoW forum.

Thank you!

Cheers Alex. I really do think the Austrian and Prussian moulds have been mixed up, unless they've been sorted since I bought mine about four years back. There was a similar problem with the SYW commanders in the sense that the descriptors did not match the codes, so if you ordered F the G you actually got Saltykov. I sent a message to Leon about this at the time, with photos of the correct figures for the codes. This is what they should look like:

Frederick

Von Loudon

Von Seydlitz

OPTION:
You'll find that French field officers are in a different pose - I didn't fancy the Austrian ones and used them for my Austrian army. Much better IMO.

Those look rather spiffy, Andy.
