Title: The Great Evzone Experiment
Post by: KTravlos on 05 June 2016, 08:52:03 AM
Leon was kind enough to fulfill my ridiculous 19th century sample order. This is going to be useful for me to figure out proxies for the infantry of many 19th century conflicts (I will prepare a large excel sheet slowly and make it available on my blog at some point). But already I have found good proxies for 1912-1922 Greeks, 1897 Greeks, 1848 Hungarians and German rebels, and the armies of the Triple Alliance War.

But the main goal has been to resolve the Great Evzone Issue  :P and I know have the first stage results of the first experiment.

Check it out here (After the Naval War discussion) and tell me your thoughts.

It seems to work - as you say a slightly longer jacket would have looked even better, but that will be very tedious to add to lots of figures, along with the hat changes.

I think once painted it will give an even stronger look of the Evzone

Zippee. Private Message sent. I was not referring to logs, but to combat charts.

Back to the Evzones. Yes lengthening the tunics is out of the question. The Turkish palyers like the idea, not much reaction by Greeks (for each Greek is but foe for each other Greek :p)

The Evzone works :)

Regarding your FAI/PA discussion I am very keen on GQ1/2 rather than GQIII because they are simpler, play faster and are much easier to pick up.

There is a set of pre-dreadnought mods on the GQ yahoo group and I have been looking at using it for the Battles of Lemons and other battles in the Eastern Med around that time.
One change I have made is to double the DF and AFs to better differentiate the relatively small ships.

The differing weapons lay outs are reflected in the changes to AF outside the broadside arc, for example Turgut Reis only get 1/3 of its main AF in the fore/aft arc. I am looking at rating the Ottomans as Poor Gunnery, ...
