Love the Ju86 airliners that the SAAF converted into bombers  ;)

I do like these sideshow campaigns with 2nd string equipment.

When a Gloster Gladiator is your better fighter you really know you are the second eleven ;)

Very interesting, thanks FSN

Some interesting match-ups there alright - Gladiator vs CR42, Wellesley vs CA 133 - not a Spitfire or 109 in sight  :o

Thanks FSN

Resisting urge to check out 1/300 models available  ;)

What a little gem of a video. Good to be reminded of the contribution made by Commonwealth forces in WW2. Quite agree - something intriguing about these sideshow campaigns. Must confess I know very little of the campaign, with most WW2 books I've read (plus one Commando comic) only touching on it.

And featuring such a wonderful collection of fascinating aircraft, too.  Also agree about the 'second eleven' aircraft comment but thankfully the Italian planes were on a par (until of course the Hurries arrived). As well as the planes, liked the way the block of Italian troops rippled as they jogged up to Mussolini - made me think that's how a block of ancient Roman legionnairies might have looked like if required to swiftly move into their position in the battle line. And, at minute 3.56 , is that guy having a pee in the cockpit?   :o

Finally, love the IL-2 Sturmovik flight simulation artwork and graphics. Same continent but not the same campaign, of course, but couldn't resist throwing in this short clip just to show off the action and graphics again .. one (or two) 109s coming up Pierre ...

Apologies for slightly derailing the thread folks (but that's what we do here anyway .... don't we?). Please get us back on subject, somebody.   :-[

Nice little find that and great to see such a mix of kit in action :). I suppose that this is why I like the whole AVBCW period in that I can mix up pretty much anything I like for my various forces.

Try Tumbling Dice 1/600, they are beautiful and come in packs of four or so.

Oh yes, yes, YES! Lemmey, you're talking my language.

I bought some Tumbling Dice a year or so ago. Just some mid war Mediterranean stuff, but it's a gateway. Just ordered some Phantoms and MiG17's.

I did try flying them over Pendraken, but the "this one small, that one far away" is sort of wrong when you're looking down on the table.

Yes seen those Leemey - very nice but not going down that route to satisfy my potential aerial gaming ambitions.

Since we're posting clips here's a couple of my favourites that you may recognise.....went to see this film as a kid with my Dad when it first came out   8)

Still no Spitfires though......hang on a minute

Would you believe Merlin powered "109's"  ;)

Thanks so much. As a South African gamer in Durban collecting air and ground for East Africa WW 2,  I really enjoyed that video!

Hurricanes, proper fighters, they're what my Grandpa flew.  8) The Poles famously recalibrated their machine guns to about a quarter of the standard RAF range, they liked to mix it up close!

Thanks for that FSN!

I don't know why, but i have always found the italian airplanes to have a nifty camoscheme and some cool early models like the cr42 falco and the sm79 sparviero.
