Title: Matt's Vietnam project
Post by: Matt J on 11 May 2016, 12:11:51 AM
Been working on Vietnam for the last 12 months or so, on and off. As well as doing some pics for the website I've been putting a reasonable sized force together. Everything is based for 'charlie don't surf' (don't game but if/when I do Ill use this rule set). I started with a basic infantry company then other sections and support to bolt on including some air cav.
By the end I hoping to have a good sized US force with multiple support units and some ARVN allies, an Aussie company with tank support (centurions  :D) and lots of NVA and VC.

a few pics of Charlie Company

Outstanding effort, Matt, and I like your vision for the future. The faces and camo helmet covers are just flat excellent.

Is it me or are your pictures a bit darker than before? From what i can see they are right up there with the rest of your figures.

Hi jass

Unfortunately there is currently only one officer model for the us troops, no ro's and no medics.

I made medics using crewmen from m60/mortar crews adding back packs and other bits.

The ro's are mostly the Aussie ones with a head swop or backpacks added to standard infantry.

I converted some of the Aussie officers into US with head swops and converting the slr into m16. One of the officers has a acw head  :D

I ve also finished a 106mm recoiless rifle and crew from an ontos barrel which looks pretty cool. I ll try post some pics tomorrow.

Its coming together quite nicely when I get everything out

In the centre are the US forces, a infantry company 1:1 with mortar platoon and recoiless rifle.

Also the start of a mechanised infantry company - m125 platoon, m113 band aid box, and 1 of what will be 13 acavs.

I have a tank platoon of m48's for support - 1 painted 4 to go

I have the start of an aircav troop - 2 hueys and a Loach, need to paint 4 more hueys (1will be medi-vac) another loach and get a couple of cobras from somewhere.

Also a couple of ontos if I field the infantry as marines.

I'll add a squad of arvn rangers to also act as liasons, and a squad of US sforces.

On the right are the Aussies. I'll probably make these up to a platoon with an sas squad a troop of centurions, 1 painted 3 to go.

On the left is the NVA. Basically need to paint shed loads do I have at least company reg nva, company of vc, and couple platoons of locals.
Not going yo do much armour for this lot, probably add another t54 a couple more lighter vehicles.
