So you're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you - what do you do? Do you sell your house to pay for the care home ? what if the money runs out?
Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 MP's and 2 illegal immigrants and so be useful to society once again.
Of course, this means you will be sent to prison ..... Where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating, air conditioning and all the health care you need! Dental problems ? - no problem. Need glasses, great. New hips, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered. (And your kids can come and visit you probably more often than they do now).
Games room , Television Room, Library , Hobbies .... All catered for. Cigarettes .. Recreational drugs available .
And who will be paying for all of this? .... The same government that just told you that you they cannot afford for you to go into a home.
Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes. and your kids can inherit your home.
IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT?
Might take you up on that.
I'm guessing you've never been in a prison then :)
Also, why should you not sell your house? Why should the state pay for your care so your nearest and dearest can inherit something they did nothing to earn?
If anyone's looking for me I'm just off to change into my asbestos underwear :)
In Japan this is a real thing;

complete twaddle of course - if you are sick and poor the local authority will put you into a Nursing Home free of charge and the remaining ratepayers pay for it - nothing to do with a government.

You do realise this is in the humour section and not real life don't you?

I do. It's not funny. It's peddling misinformation to advance an unpleasant, largely right-wing, agenda.
Let's not let this get overheated, Gang.
Cheers - Phil.
Agreed.
Apologies for the grumpy response.
Bad morning but that's an explanation not an excuse.
Not referring to this issue directly, but I suspect that iffy jokes with tacky agendas often do more damage than official government policies. I'm thinking of the dear racist past of my own great and good native country.
There's something soul-chilling about senior citizens driven to petty theft in order to have enough to eat.
