As a good Scotsman and atheist, enjoy your Saint's day!

Think the English should rise up and reclaim the day.

Happy Anatolian Soldier Day!

The son of a Turkish soldier and a Palestinian member of a subversive religious cult who served in an Italian army and who killed a member of an endangered Middle Eastern wildlife species ... he wouldn't be allowed in the country these days. :)

He's the only one we've got so Happy St. George's Day to him and all the other devotees.

Where to turn when your ancestry includes Welsh, Scots, Anglo-Norman, Dutch and Turk?

Mine are -as far as I know -German Saxon (hence the surname which actually means Saxon or Englishman) and then East Saxon (the Essex tie-in as Essex means East Saxon), right on through to me. There might be a tentative connection to the Welsh Marches but where and how I don't know although the medieval period has been mentioned.

When I was an Anglo-Saxon re-enactor the Vikings used to toast each of their gods.  We responded by toasting our saints.  We got more beer than they did.
