Title: Zvezda 1/144 I-16?
Post by: GrumpyOldMan on 19 April 2016, 10:41:04 PM
Hello All

Has anybody tried out the new Zvezda I-16 yet? The parts look ok and unusually for Zvezda there is a pilot. I was just wondering about the fit of the parts?

I have assembled quite a few of the Zvezda Kits in 1:100 and 1/72 and sometimes they are fiddly, but always fit well.

Certainly the 1/72 stuff you cant dry fit as the pins are so snug they will not come out again without breaking.

Sorry just noticed this post.  Vic, I have built two of the kits.  They are relatively easy and not too fiddly.  I glued two lengths of wire 5mm long (staples or paper clip wire) where the wheel slots are, and drilled a slot for the stand This means I can (a) mount them on the stand as in flying mode or (b) let them rest on the wire to represent parked on the ramp.

The thin wire is painted grey and frankly does not get noticed any more than the Perspex stand in flying mode.

Recommended as useful kits for pre and early war eras.

Hello

Thanks for the reply chaps. I thought they'd be ok but I've had some problems with  some of their 1/100 stuff so just wanted to check :).

Cheers
