Not long finished the first 3 hadjuk units. Here's a taster picture, there are some more on the blog.

Superb 8)
Really nice work there.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
Very nice indeed

All the above.
Cheers - Phil
They have come out lovely, nice bright colours really work against the black lining.
What size are the bases, they look fairly big? Looking at the single stand photos, I was going to suggest adding a few more figures, but then seeing the shot of all the bases, I saw how good they all look together.
Those are very nice indeed.
Very nice looking army and I also like the basing style.
Renaissance polish - as used by Bernini and Michelangelo for a fine finish to their sculpture.
Very Nice! :-bd
I see Ray's still commenting twice on people's blog posts ;D

Thanks all.
Initially, I thought that more figures more be an option but I try to use a maximum of 1 bag and 3 bases per unit with added officers etc, that way I don't end up with scores of spare figures . The bases -like all my other 10mm- are on 60 x 40mm.
They're superb :)
Nicely done, Sub. :-bd
Something about your basing makes me feel your troops are smaller than they are?
Mine are closer packed...

You have a valid point, perhaps 50 x 40mm or maybe even 50 x 30mm may have been better but I decided that as all of my other 10mm armies are on 60 x 40mm bases with 3 bases to a unit I would stay with this and sort out rule sets at a later date. (And I have a lot of 60 x 40 bases but none of the other size so that was really the clincher.) I agree that with close order troops the clue is in the name and sometimes they look better for being tighter on the base but I wanted as many different types as I could get. As Pendraken deal in packs and for financial reasons I went with the notion of having a maximum of one pack per unit so as to reduce the number of spare figures left over at the end of the project. Consequently the numbers are 30 'battle line' infantry, 12-15 skirmishing infantry, 12-15 HC/MC, 9-12 LC etc in a single unit.
However, for the Swedes/30YW/ECW units I intend to keep the same matchlock numbers but have 3 ranks of pike on a 60 x 40. I have brought some inexpensive 2mm modelling tubes for the standards to make the units interchangeable depending on the game. This means that effectively I can get 4 infantry units from 3 matchlock and 2 pike packs with a small unit of commanded matchlocks or skirmishers made up from the remaindrer.
Sounds brilliant, it's just somehow yours look, erm... Small! ;D
It must be a Dougal from Father Ted thing. ;) :D

The command base of the first banner of 10mm Polish Renaissance husaria and a group shot. As usual there are more clickable pictures including some better ones of the infantry units completed to date on the blog.

Sorry that the first picture is a bit 'in yer face' but I don't know to reduce it so it's a better fit. If anyone else knows how, be my guest.

I've reduced the top piccy (I hope).....It seems to work on the preview...I just hope it doesn't completely disappear !
Cheers - Phil
They really do look the dog's!!
They make mine look paltry.
Great job sir.
They look spectacular, well done!
As to changing the size of the pictures, you can edit the first of the tags with width= or height=
I usually start with width=500 and preview it then adjust up or down as needed.
Looks like this - [img width=500] NB no spacing either side of the equals sign.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
great close up. Looking good
They are very nice, top work that man!
Seconded !
(And I seem to have successfully reduced the piccy. ;))
Cheers - Phil
They certainly do look very impressive
Take care

Another unit added to my slowly growing Polish Renaissance army. This time a unit of pancerni.

As usual, more pictures on the blog.
Very nice. Well worth clicking through to the blog to see the big pictures which show the detailing of the saddle cloths.
This is going to be a very colourful army when finished.
Superb
Lovely stuff
Cheers

Stonking work, Sub ! 8)
I'm glad 'Fred' mentioned going to have a look at the blog.
The little pics don't really do them full justice.
Cheers - Phil.
Excellent painting.
Lovely work
and great choice of crisp colours, design and execution on the caparisons
Fantastic stuff. Ditto on the crisp colours, really make the figures stand out
:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
As already said the crisp colours really work
Amazing detail on the saddle cloths :o :)
Thaks all. They certainly are some of the best 10mm around.

It's used for getting a good shine on the Maximilian armour.
Another unit now complete; Cossack axemen in Polish service. Just a couple of taster pics as there are more clickable ones on the blog.

More cracking work Mick, I'm really liking the colours of these troops.
I never seem to go bright enough with my own painting. I seem to go a bit muted, which then doesn't stand out that well on the table.
Very nicely done indeed 8)
:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
Well worth a visit to the blog ;)
These look excellent

Andy
Terrific stuff, Mick !
Cheers - Phil.
looking really good, very bright and define minatures!
good work men
Lovely work Subedai.
>>I never seem to go bright enough with my own painting. I seem to go a bit muted, which then doesn't stand out that well on the table.
I've had a similar concern with my own figures, particularly after seeing the high
contrast effect achieved by both Subedai and Kev (with his LOA armies).
I tend to paint for my own close up appreciation with the same subtle three-colour
painting I use on larger figures. I think the difference here is that both painters
retain lots of black undercoat and also choose really bright colours. This then
maintains high contrast that looks the business with 10mm. They also look
fantastic close up.
Certainly food for thought.
Phil
Thanks for all the nice comments chaps.
I would agree with Glorfindel about the contrast, you really need to go nice and bright because the chaps are quite small. But I differ to him in that I only use one layer of shading but it is more 'stand-out' than what would normally be used on say, 25mm chaps.
Fred. I cheated a little with the pictures. Once taken I used the picture program with Microsoft Office 10 to auto edit colours and brightness. Hope you don't mind I have tried the same technique with a couple of your photos and by the looks of the resulting edit there is absolutely nothing wrong with the colours, maybe it's your camera or the lighting you are seeing them under? If you have a picture editing program try that. Or, looking at the pics of your Araby army, are the bases painted or just sanded? Maybe the bases are absorbing the colours of the figures rather than reflecting them back up so that could account for the slightly darkened effect.
Before edit:

You can immediately see the difference. I have posted another before and after picture of the Araby LC as well as one of my pics on my blog.
MickS
Thanks Mick. I'll try a bit of simple image editing, as you have certainly brighten those up (and the ones on the blog).
Nice Subedai
