Title: Forum Tunes
Post by: Leman on 10 April 2016, 10:25:13 AM
Currently listening to a Soulwax number called 'I Love Techno." Anyone know any other tunes that can relate to the Forum (Don't think Nobby 'Ole should be allowed)?

There's a whole musical d_Guys and Dolls

Tawa-ra boom-de-ay.

Then there's the nursery rhyme
     "I love Fierce Kitty,
      his coat is so warm,
and if I don't mangle the English language or appear to endorse the British Empire or be Eurocentric in any way,
      he'll do me no harm".

"Westie's red, red robin
comes bob, bob, bobbing along
and the policeman says
'I don't care what you call it, put it away' "

"Sun--a-ray, early in the morning,
Sun-a-ray, wake up in the morning,
Painting all the tanks all around."

I was constantly accused in my adolescent years of being an imperialist/neo-colonialist/fascist because of my preference for so much that is European. A bit like the Byzantine situation - bet on the blue chariot and suddenly everyone is an expert on your preferred political candidate, your opinion of the relationship between the Father and the Son, your chosen tactics against the Bulgars, your favoured sexual position, and your level of devotion to the souvlaki joint at the corner of Theodora Square.

Sounds a bit like, "We were doing alright until we completely ignored what the Europeans were doing until it was too late, then we didn't have the technology to stop them exploiting us, so now we're jealous of their much better standard of living and pleasanter lifestyle, so it must be wrong, so let's destroy it."

Destroy, She Said

The Fields of Athenry (for the Fantasy fans)

Overload Part One (Techno's average morning)

American View (what d_Guy thinks of us)

Rant

Painting

Loser (somone usually has to be)

The Secret Between the Blade and Me (a Techno favourite I believe)

Spasmic Fairy (choose your own interpretation of this one)

American View (what d_Guy thinks of us)

It's possible but I can't understand a dang word - which - as I think on it - often mirrors my view of the form. :D

I would have to add "Hotel California" to the list of forum tunes

And possibly R.E.M's "it's the end of the world"

Oh - and any thing by Steppenwolf - particularly when fsn, Techno and Tawa are involved.

Head out to the Kings Head,
Lookin' for good pint,
And a pack of scam-pi fries.
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen,
Take that glass in a love embrace,
A full pint with a creamy head,
See the grin on my face.

Smokey with poor lightning,
Feet stuck to the carpet!
Nobby's got some bad wind,
And my nasal hair is scorched!
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take that glass in a love embrace
A full pint with a creamy head,
See the grin on my face.

Friday night, it's gone wild,

Magic Magnifier Ride

I like to paint yes, yes, I like to keep my paintbrush clean
On a cloud of fumes I paint all night
Gotta place it just right
Goes far, flies near, got my optivisor here

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you give my optivisor a whirl
In a Pendraken catalogue
You don't know what you'll see
Tiny figures from PD
World War 2 to Fantasy
Don't strain your eyes
On things this size
Magnifier takes the strain away

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp
And so I wished that I could see
Before the thing could help me out
With teeny, tiny soldiers from PD
I looked around, a magnifier's what I found

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you give it a little whirl
In a Pendraken catalogue
Well, you don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy or the LDV?
Check your email
Pendraken don't fail;
Detail to blow you away!
