Wow, really nice work. Looks like the BBC got War and Peace wrong putting the Austerlitz French in shakos. I had previously noted that they had also put the Austerlitz Russians in the kiwer. I'm sure they did much better research in the 1972 production of War and Peace.

Nice work, indeed!  =D>

Leman - I, too, spotted that but I rationalised the uniform inaccuracies as being an economic measure seeing they would also be covering the 1812 campaign in subsequent episodes.    :-B

indeed, the french "Shako" has been increased only from 1807 (along with the white uniform), the French carry both during the battles of Wagram and Friedland
and this is the same period as the russian "cylindrical hat" will become the "kiwers" with cord ....... they wore the hat until 1803 with a lighter green uniform

and yes, cinema as on our gaming tables, errors are commonplace for economic reasons ........
we must recognize that Napoleon did not help us work for 20 year campaign !!!

Can anyone else remember the 1970s War and Peace series starring Anthony Hopkins as Pierre. I'm sure the uniforms changed with the passing of time.

these are figures Magister Militum except the mounted officer who is pendraken
and the Austrians, if you talk of pre 1800, you can find them at Pendraken in the range "revolution" ..........

Hello!!

a small productive weekend with:
some additional pieces for the first line battalion

(http://sm2.photorapide.com/membres/156/photos/4qlrji.jpg) (http://www.photorapide.com/images.php?photoName=4qlrji.jpg&photoId=783760)

In "tactical" mode, it will be my first brigadier, the skirmishers (SK2) and a regimental battery

(http://sm2.photorapide.com/membres/156/photos/nw5qvp.jpg) (http://www.photorapide.com/images.php?photoName=nw5qvp.jpg&photoId=783790)

And "great tactical" mode, the indicator information or simply the way to enhance and customize the brigades:

Brigadier and skirmirshers .........

(http://sm2.photorapide.com/membres/156/photos/ug4tg5.jpg) (http://www.photorapide.com/images.php?photoName=ug4tg5.jpg&photoId=783765)

or skirmishers and regimental artillery ........

(http://sm2.photorapide.com/membres/156/photos/isrn9f.jpg) (http://www.photorapide.com/images.php?photoName=isrn9f.jpg&photoId=783769)

and finally (for now), a first foot battery of 8 pounds in "tactical mode"

(http://sm2.photorapide.com/membres/156/photos/6136ad.jpg) (http://www.photorapide.com/images.php?photoName=6136ad.jpg&photoId=783772)

some small enhancements to make, and elaborate a bit the flock, and I go to the next !!

The sabot bases work really well :) Perhaps a blue die for the French, less distracting than white ;)

in fact, I think use a different die color for each army corps, a simple and visual method to find ......

Not only remember it but got the book by Christopher Duffy, Borodino Napoleon against Russia, 1812, paperback by Sphere, 1972 with a few stills of Brordino from the tv series. French troops are all grenadiers with red epaulettes, long red tails on dark blue jackets and all wearing white trousers. Tricky to tell too much because of distance shot. Next pic down has two french guns with gunners in what looks like the similar uniform -blue trousers and white gaiters- only one has the top band of his shako in yellow.

The Russians are in lightish green jackets with short red tails and red edged cuffs, trousers are white.. Not at all sure of the headgear, whether it's a shako or a kiwer though; they look flat topped with white top bands and cords. can't see any aiguilettes though -picture taken from the wrong side.

Good evening everyone,
painting test figurines samples .......

the typical Russian infantry of the battle of Austerlitz: a musketeer and a sub officer of grenadier :

a French "chasseur" 3rd Squadron of the 16th Regiment:

They are Lancer miniatures and, in fact, sculpted by the same sculptor as the MM range.

Hi everybody!!
I finally the explanation for this disproportion of the rider, the engraver having the cares of making larger horses for the heavy cavalry, to make it visible, he has decided to increase this difference ..... ..I can understand it, and then once in the unit, it is noticeable really, but you can judge soon: twisted:

Meanwhile, a small glimpses of progress ........

The hunters threw me there as chasseurs has been shamelessly hijacked by the English language. Lovely looking units and I do like the look of the bicorne infantry. An army right on the cusp of change.
