Title: Gauging interest: HOMABOD Introduction SYW/NAP/ACW competition.
Post by: Nigelemsen on 25 March 2016, 10:27:35 AM
Hi, I have released a series of quick play, any scale rulesets. "Hordes of Models and Buckets of Dice" aka HOMABOD. Towards the end of the year I am looking to run a fairly relaxed introduction one day competition (3x 2hr game format) for the Gunpowder Period, targeting either SYW, Napoleonics or ACW. The period is dependant on majority demand along with the scale. (10mm/15mm seems obvious!) An army would be about 15 units.

I am currently working on the army lists and given an already busy wargaming calender for everyone, I was looking to run the event towards the end of the year. I expect to be hosting the event either at Battlefield Hobbies, Daventry (but I would need around 20 entires at about £10 per head) or if a smaller number near Milton Keynes or Oxford.

The rules can be accessed for free on the Amazon Kindle Library. Also once we have sufficient interest, I was going to offer out a free PDF copy prior to the event. On the day you would get a free paperback copy of the rules and army lists for taking part.

In the meantime I will be at Campaign 2016 (MK) and Britcon 2016 (Manchester) running a large 54mm 1815 demonstration game of the rules and you are always welcome to join in to sample the rules.

If people would be interested in the one day event, them please contribute your thoughts to the thread.

Many thanks
Nigel.

Will take a look at the rules to see how my current armies and basing fit. I would be interested in either 10mm SYW or 15mm ACW.

For ACW 15mm I am expecting Fire and Fury bases being the most common. My rules do not dictate at base size. The rules work on a single unit foot print. Which can be be a number of bases or a single one along the lines of POW and Impetus. The unit base frontage equals 1 movement/range unit. In play testing I used 100mm unit frontages for 15mm

Hope this helps.

The QRS has been laid out for big print reading... I am putting up this weekend a more condensed version.

Email/message me and I'll send a PDF copy of the rules,

Well I picked up the rules on Kindle this afternoon, so very nice to have a printable QRS. I now have these and Shakos to Coal-scuttles to try out down the club. Unfortunately my ACW are on 30mm bases, so footprint will be 120mm.

Nigel,

Think that my swing my December game away from Corruvalry! ;)

Maybe ask people if they could bring matched pairs, then that avoids basing issues? And I could Use FPW!

The aim is to go with the common size, unit frontages can be slightly different.
