Madness
It's a sad World that we live in, ruined by a few mad individuals :(
Ronan's just put me right...(I thought it was him that lived in Belgium.)
IS it Peter Cooman that lives there ?
If it is......Let's all hope that he's fine and lives nowhere near the atrocities.
Cheers - Phil

Jup that is me.
Everything is fine, It's a 30-40 minute drive from here to Brussels, so i'm ok. Happy my wife is on parental leave (starting work again in may), as she works in brussels.
Have some friends and relatives that were there for work but everyone is fine as far as i know.
Had a late shift so was at home when it started. Followed the news closely untill i went to work. Had tears in my eyes when i saw the airport. Have been there so many times, and the spot where the glass was blown out is the spot where we always linger for a while, as you can see the runway from there, and my wife likes to see the planes go up. That will never be the same again i suppose.
That spot is above the 'long term sign' here in this picture.

Nail bombs.A coward's act using a coward's weapon. That's all i have to say.
And my condolances to the families of the ones that were lost to us, and strength to the people that were hurt, and still fighting for their life.
Good to hear

A coward's act using a coward's weapon.
Myself, I find murder more offensive than cowardice.
Very pleased to hear you're OK, Peter. #:-S
Yes..... :(.......Thoughts and condolences to all those who have lost family & friends.
Cheers - Phil
Words cannot express....
Can't abide the use of non-existent deities to justify this idiocy.

Well the murder is a direct consequence of the cowardly act so...
I don't think I'd like it any better if it showed Spartan courage.
I don't think it ever will.
But i believe that they see themselves as heroes for these acts, so we must clearly state their cowardice, so we can remember and act better for ourselves at all times.
After 9/11, I was bewildered at the way so many Americans denounced the suicide attackers as cowards. With a choice of "murderous", "fanatical", "heretical", or good old "stupid", everyone chose to describe amazing courage as cowardice.
Islam is not for me (and so glad I live in a country where I have the freedom to hold my own beliefs free of coercion and suppression). But its clear that IS is just an outlet for "troubled boys" to further develop their anti-social and psychopathic tendencies and nothing to do with any recognised religion. They deliberately target defenceless civilians. That they are cowards is without question.
As for their innocent victims, my sympathy goes out to those who have been injured and to the friends and families of the deceased.
I sometimes wonder if the suppression found in a number of religions, including some versions of christianity, breeds troubled boys seeking an outlet.
Horrible situation, but can we edge it away from religion and politics chaps.
Sympathies to all involved. Belgium has always been such a friendly, welcoming country. 🇧🇪🇧🇪
Nah, too well-meaning western liberal which has landed us in this mess in the first place. How on earth can you separate what is going on in Europe from global geopolitics and the rise of a more aggressive Islam since 1947?
Good discussion, team.......But let's be careful that this doesn't blow up into a complete and vitriolic row.
Please.
This is too tragic a situation to fall out over.
Lock and delete buttons on standby. ;)
Cheers - Phil.

I think for once we're all more or less in agreement.
Best place to end this. Nicely put.
Yep......
I agree ! :)

No row from my part. We all judge these kind of things in our own ways. I don't consider islam to be the problem either. If tomorrow islam ceised to exist, do you think idiots will stop walking this earth?
I think not :-\
We had our minute of silence at 12, and life will go on now. Only thig we can do is remember the fallen and show our sympathy to those that were injured. There is no political or religious change that can make it 'unhappen' so no need to discuss that when people are still suffering. let's keep the bickering for later.

Well put, Peter.
I
believe that some of FK's comments have been slightly misinterpreted.
I
think I understand where he's coming from, regarding 'cowards'.... and that's basically down to semantics...we all interpret 'things' in different ways.
I'll lock the topic now.
