This is in driving range of us 'rebellious scots'. I wonder if a few of my chums fancy a visit?
Quick - close the border....

I'm giving this one a miss. I'll wish the show, and everyone putting on games, well.
Next local shows for me will be Muster on the Parade Ground and Durham Wargames Group's annual open day.
Health of us all permitting.
Just to let you know Roy that Redcar Ironbeards are down to provide games for both of those events m/ m/
Hi
First I've heard of this event. What's going on down there then.
Jim
Jim, it is run by a company called Waugh Games who is a on line trader based in Middlesbrough.
The event has the usual mix of demo/participation games, a couple of tournaments and a selection of traders.
If you are on facebook there is a Waugh Games page that has all the details.
Hope this is of some use, if not let me know and I will try and email you the flyer
:)
Waugh Games do 28mm stuff and sponsor this:

I can confirm that I am now in attendance at this show. [I don't know why I make plans, as other people only cause me to alter them]
So I'll come over and say hello, Skywalker.
Wish I could come too but we go away on holiday that day.

Question for the Geordies
Am planning on coming down from Edinburgh so that is the A1 for starters.
Should I get off the A1 and join the A19 north of Newcastle and come through the Tyne Tunnel
or:
Stay on the A1 through Newcastle, peel off at Washington and cut over to the A19.

Staying on the A1 is an easier drive and cheaper than paying for the tunnel! Then onto the A1231 at Washington as you say and over to the A19. Finding the Southlands Centre can be fun though, which was one of the reasons we moved Battleground over to the Queens Campus at Stockton instead!

Are those god-awful long term roadworks still on near the Metro Centre? If they are I'd use the tunnel.

I've not been up that way since before Xmas unfortunately so I'm not sure.
Going from Edinburgh to Guisborough when my sister lived there we used to go A68, A167 to go north of Darlington and then on to the A66 through Sadberge and Long Newton which would also take you to Middlesborough.

I usually avoid the A68.

The A68 is a really nice road to drive, we use it when we go up to Hadrians Wall sometimes and some of the views are excellent. Early mornings and late at night it's usually fine, but during the day you're likely to get stuck behind a lorry and it becomes quite a slow haul unfortunately.
We usually travelled Saturdays or Sundays to be fair and with two youngish kids would be up and off pretty early. The couple of times I've done it recently were both Saturdays and we set off around mid-day and didn't hit too much traffic. The main delay was my insistence on going to Vindolanda, The Roman Army Museum, Housteads and Chester's Fort! Not all in the same trip I hasten to add.

OK, am set up with a couple of chums to come down the A1 past Newcastle, wiggle to the east at Washington and then down the A19.
Come and say hello if you will be there.
Just been doing my recon of the journey route. I believe I know where we're going.
Biggest job was finding out how much the entrance cost is. Couldn't find it on Waugh's website/store. Finally managed to find it by venturing onto Facebook, then piffing about on the Tees Con page (price isn't listed there) and clicking onto a separate event page for Tees Con 2016.
"Tickets £2.50 per Adult & Under 12's go FREE!"
David will be attending Tees Con 2016 at Southlands Leisure Centre, Middlesbrough on Saturday. He will be promoting our show, Muster on the Parade Ground 2016, and will have show leaflets and booking forms with him so if you go say hello. For more details of our show visit our website - www.teesshows.co.uk - or our show Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/motpg12016
Sometimes Brain Waugh forgets about communicating the important stuff ;D ;D
I met Jim Duncan and Ian (Skywalker) today. :-h
For sake of completion; late yesterday the Tees Con Facebook page was updated with the entrance fees.
It was good to meet up with Jim Duncan and Roy Williamson. I took a few pictures of our game which I have posted on the Redcar Ironbeards and the GCN Yorkshire facebook pages. The photography isn't brilliant as the hall lighting is so bad but you can get the idea :-[
A reasonably pleasant trip down from Edinburgh despite the odd bit of drizzle.
Took the A1 option, paused for breakfast at Framlington and then continued on down the A19, through the Tyne Tunnel, more of the A19 and then across to the A66, wandered a bit through some roundabouts to eventually find Ormesby Road.
Left Ednburgh at 7am and arrived at the show for 10:15 so quite do-able.
Nice little show. Met Roy and Skywalker from the Forum, had a blether with the guys at Colonel Bills, an even longer blether with Dave Lanchester before buying a book on the AWI and some 7YW French Infantry which I'll disguise as AWI French.
I would have bought some paint triads from Foundry but they weren't there. Ho Hum.
Set off for home at lunchtime to catch the F1 qualifying at 4pm and made that comfortably.

Good to meet you again at a show.
Have you got a direct link to the show photographs.

I've found these photos

Of which, this one shows both the Redcar Ironbeards' game and, possibly, me in the background talking to Stu (of Col. Bills). To the right of shot might be CV10man?

Foundry are at Cannon, Retford (Notts), today as they sponsor that show. I don't think they trade at as many shows as they once did.
I can't get a link to work for the Redcar Ironbeards' Facebook page, you need to sign in. So, unless Skywalker asks me to delete them, here's his photo's

Thanks Roy
I am not registered with Facebook so I am presuming that Facebook users have to make their pictures public access for non-facebook users to view.
Thanks for putting up the pictures Roy :-bd

Yes It looks like my rear end! ;D ;D ;D
Any more pics of the show?
I'll keep an eye out for any, and put them on here.
The other two (still to come) Teesside shows should provide more photos, as they're both bigger affairs with a bit more history behind them and so can draw in more gamers/traders.
Brian Waugh has posted that this show was a success and it will run in 2017, and that traders have put their names down for trading spaces for next year.
I'm afraid I moved to NZ a while ago and like to see what is happening in Teesside.
I honestly haven't seen any more photos of this show - I didn't take my camera as I thought it would be a very small event and there would be nothing worth capturing for posterity. [I was wrong.]
My summary of the Teesside Wargames Convention would be:
. Small show
. Adequate number of traders for the event / enough of a diverse spread of scales, terrain, food, figures, books on offer
. Venue was ideal, though lighting not great for cameras (nothing that the organisers could do about that - obviously an issue with most, older sports halls)
. There was listed that two tournaments would be there, but I only saw the WW2 Bolt Action games. 40K might have been elsewhere. Either way, they didn't interfere with the show
. Games: there was the WW2 tournament games, as mentioned above. Some local groups displaying, Redcar Ironbeards included - from memory, the others were of a fantasy / sci-fi type (there was a space ships game and a sci-fi / steam punk-ish naval game). The participation games were those run by the traders; a couple of zombie games, Space Hulk, Bolt Action, possibly a couple more that I've forgotten about.
Nothing wrong with any of the games shown, or on offer, and the organisers did well attracting a good spread of game types for this sized (and still new) show. There was no dead space, where games should have been but didn't turn up (from what I can remember), so I had no complaints of what was on offer - and a couple of the participation gamers did actively try to get me involved in playing, so, again, nothing to complain about in the lack of opportunities.
. I was in attendance as a member of the public (in case people think I was trading, on the Col. Bills staff), so I don't know if the show was a success from the trader's point of view - though, if they're wanting to come back next year, it can't have been a failure.
. If I was going to make a criticism, then it'd be this. Once inside the (large) sports centre the wargames show is quite a distance, and down a couple of winding corridors, from the entrance. I'd not been before, so was looking for where I needed to go. A couple of "Show, this way" type of signs attached to a door or wall (if the sports centre would allow it) would have been highly of use.
