Greetings all :)
I'm Jaymis and a new member on the Pendraken Forum.
I've been tabletop gaming (war-games and board-games) for about 15 years now and it's the one hobby I've retained and continually enjoyed. When I started out the big thing was Warhammer (4th/5th) & 40K (3rd) which I still enjoy but sadly with how things at GW have turned out I've cut my losses. Warband was one of the first (along with Kings of War and Mighty Armies) non-GW Fantasy games I've looked into and am loving it :D Looking at joining up if there is a Tournament at PAW 2017. Within the past year or so I've also started getting into the Historical and Napoleonic side of the hobby with Field of Glory, Mighty Armies: Ancients and Black Powder all in 10/15mm. Would be interested to know if Pendraken are planning there own Historical Rules set at any point as Warband is superb and would love to see what you guys can do in a Historical setting. Looking forward to being more involved in the discussions on the forum and having some lively conversions.
Thanks. Jaymis.
Hello and welcome! :D
Welcome on board :)
nice to meet you :-h
A very warm welcome, Jaymis....
You'll get a lot of really good conversations here....As well as some that end up being completely and utterly mad ! ;)
Cheers - Phil

We're currently working on the Blitzkrieg/Cold War/Future War Commander's which cover everything from WWII onwards. There'll also be a Ancient/Medieval version of Warband at some point as well hopefully, but not sure on timescales for that one. We've also got some other areas we'd like to expand into over the coming years.

Welcome Jaymis
Thank you all for the warm welcome :)
Hi Jaymis, welcome to the madhouse forum :)
Home to as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful a bunch of lunatics as you will find on the interwebs!
"Lively" conversations are pretty much a given. You will get used to the derailments of topics, the in-jokes and running gags, and the in-depth discussions of things you never realised you were interested in pretty quickly - if my experience is anything to go by.
As one forum member said to me when I introduced myself to the group - come on in, draw up a mushroom and take a seat :)
Welcome to the forum
Take care
Andy
Hi Jaymis, welcome to the forum!
Of course, if you are getting into historical gaming, I urge upon you the merits of focusing on post-1792. Others will urge the contrary. Allow me to refer you to this thread:

I agree on the post-1792 suggestion but alas Pendraken do not make figures suitable for the campaigns of Hammurabi's* Babylonians :( However they do make some excellent Later Roman Empire figures you might like to consider or perhaps some Greek hoplites if you're a fan of 300?
Oh, wait ... did Chris mean 1792 AD? Trust me, nothing of interest, militarily, happened after that date ;)

Except the Anglo-Zanzibar War. That's a really interesting conflict to recreate. The Pendraken Forum Display Team should demo that as their next show game. Plenty of scope for action.
Personally I'm gutted you forgot the 1810-13 Anglo-Swedish War.
Battles fought 0.
Soldiers killed 0.
Sailors killed 0.
Civilians killed by their own side 30 (by Swedish cavalry against rioting mob)
Herro! :D
Can't find a reference to it now, of course, but when I was in San Marino many years ago we were shown a memorial to the forces of San Marino who took part in one of the struggles between Italy and Austria in which they not only suffered no casualties but, due to recruiting some Austrian deserters into the force, actually returned home with more men than they started with!
My sort of army :)

You are too kind good sir..... ;D
Far too kind!
...er...I'm very boring....
Oh yeah?
Completely drab and forgettable. Mr Cellophane. Face in the crowd. The unknown wargamer.
Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.
The "methinks" comes at the end, if my memory is to be trusted.
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks" - Queen Gertrude in Hamlet
If FK says he's dull .... who am I to argue ;)
So, Queen Gertrude was a transvestite then. Never been a fan of Shakespeare, mainly because I don't speak, or understand, Elizabethan English. Love the old misquotes though.
Anyon seen the plot of this thread? :P
Out damned plot!.......err, another misquote.
Hello again, Mr Hawk, from Plymouth.
See what you've started?
;D ;D ;D ;D

Welcomes almost invariably degenerate into thread hijacks. X_X
I always hope that any 'newbies' that join, have been watching the forum for a while already, so that they know the sort of oiks that frequent our hallowed pages.....and aren't put off ! ;)
