Post by: Techno on 12 March 2016, 07:07:58 AM
Woke up to the news this morning. (Apparently suicide)

One of my ultimate music heroes.
Very, very sad to hear the news.  :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Cheers - Phil.

Thank heavens my tastes lie in the 18th century. All I have to get upset about is composers kicking the bucket too young.

Radio 4's Now Show last night had a rework of the Blue Oyster Cult "Don't fear the Reaper" asking Death to lay off for a while.

Definitely a legend in the literal meaning of the word. Brain Salad Surgery was one of the first lp's I bought and still play the cd version every so often.

FK, some of ELP's music was classical played upbeat with modern instruments -usually a Moog synthesiser.

RIP

I shall not express my opinion of such practices, since children may be reading this thread....

18th Century? Bleh ... you can't tell the girls from the boys and you can't make out the words.

It's all completely subjective though, isn't it ?

There are some 'modern versions' of old tunes/songs, that I think are truly great....(I can enjoy a classic(al) original as much as a 'revamp'.....They please ME).....Some 'new' ones, however leave me cold...
But that's just me. (Me, me, me.  ;)  ;D ;D)
Individually, one person's opinion is no more important than 'Joe Bloggs' next door.

Don't start me on some modern art, though.....I might go off on one !......Completely !!!!!!!!!! (More excessive use of exclamation marks there.) ;)

Cheers - Phil

You mean it's thick & sticky, and is flowing slowly?

This is why I think that critics -on theatre, art, music and films are a bunch of self-opinionated, pretentious, pseudo-intellectuals who don't have the common sense to find their own backsides with both hands...and a map...and a bl**dy mirror! Not as fan as you might be able to tell.

Nobody should be able to make up your mind for you, that's your job!
