The 2nd scenarion in the Greek-Ottoman phase of the First Balkan War mini-campaign can be now found on the BBB Yahoo Group or my blog

This is the Battle of Yiannitsa, the central battle for the fate of Thessaloniki (Selanik). It is an interesting map with a major water body dominating the map.

Thank you
Cool - nice looking scenario
I see its for 1912, so how late do BBB rules work for? Would they work for 1914 for the pre-trench parts of WWI?
What size bases are normally used? I'm kind of wondering if the stuff I have for GWSH on 30mm bases, were a stand represents a company, would work for BBB which seems to use a stand for a battalion.
Looks interesting Konstantinos and the terrain is not too challenging either.

Hi. I am sure Chris will show up in due time to aslo give his answers. I would say that BBB can work up to early 1914. There is modification for 1914 on the BBB Yahoo Group, but my own belief is that smart use of the vanilla rules can also work. There already is a Retreat to Mons 1914 scenario up in the yahoo groups using the modified rules.
BBB has variable scale depending on the scale of the battle you wish to represent
The usual scales are 1 base=750-800 men, 1 base=1000 men, 1 base=1500 men (the maximum)
Artillery is 1 base=12/24/36 guns
Again though these are not iron rules. It depends on the scale of the battle you wish to represent. In some scenarios 1 base=1 battalion, in others 1 base=1 regiment. As long as both forces are given the same scale you are fine.
Your 30mm stands can work, but would represent a battalion or regiment depending on the scale of the battle you wish to represent. Your probably could do scenarios in which 1 base= a half-division (2-3 companies) though I have not tried something like that. Joining the Yahoo Group gives you access to 38 scenarios, which run the gamunt from large mutli-army battles to multi-divisional clashes.
Hi Fred,
As Konstantinos said, BBB is scaleable. For the largest C19 battle, Koniggratz, I made a base represent 2,500 men. I had an initial look at doing Cambrai with I think 4-base divisions.
I'm undecided as to whether WWI can be done right with 'vanilla' BBB (maybe just some minor tweaking of factors), or whether it would need some significant modification. I think the answer may be both: 'vanilla' for battles of up to say 100,000 men, but modded for larger operations. It's a work in progress.

Bloody Big BATTLES!

Thanks both.
For the RJW I use a 30mm to represent a battalion in BBB. Currently I'm doing brigades for 6/8 bases for both sides. However I am tempted to leave the Japanese as Brigades of 6 bases but change the Russians to 12/16 bases as divisions to make them a bit more inflexible
There is a BBB scenario for Le Cateau 1914 on the Yahoo group site.
I've asked for access to the yahoo group.
It will be interesting to have a look at the BBB scenarios. Ive liked the GWSH games we've played, but it would be good to have an option for much bigger battles too.
We are also looking for some ACW rules, though I think the others in the group are leaning towards the other end of the unit scale with the rules they have looking at.
For ACW, Vincent Tsao has been creating scenarios for much smaller battles than what BBB was originally designed for, and seems to be having a great time. For this one he used a scale of 83 men or 2 guns per base:

I think Eastern Front 1914/15 would have quite a few battles that would work
