Hi all,
Well I have never tried 10mm. I picked up some Pendraken 10mm AWi on the spur of the moment recently. Ok they were a steal. So will give my hand at pianting them. I have painted 28s, 15s and even 6 mm from Adler and Bachus. Not a big fan of the 6mm, lose too much detail in my mind even though its like speed painting. How else can you do 50 figures of 6mm to 1 28mm!!!
So I thought hmm, 10mm, nice figures plenty of detil should be a hoot! If it works out then I would like to do ACW and Napoleonic next.
Oh and cheers all glad to join the forum.
Welcome to the forum
The Pendraken figures are very easy to paint and very addictive
Hope you have fun with them all
Welcome, Obsidian. :-h
You'll soon get used the madness that sometimes occurs here.....But it's a great, friendly and informative forum. :)
Cheers - Phil

A Canadian eh?
Any Scottish blood in your family or are we going to have to tar you with same brush that we use for them down south?
Hi Obsidian,
Welcome to the Forum.
FK will get all excited in case your name reflects an interest in Meso-American ranges.

You have picked a great range to get started with, lots of figure variation and great detail

You stole them? I don't know if that's the kind of thing we should condone.
Welcome anyway, Mr Canada.
I came to Pendraken 10mm a few years ago, and now wouldn't go anywhere else. It's not just the fantastic figures at low, low prices, and the excellent service from Leon and his band on indentured family members, despite being based in Middle-borough. If you've never been to Middle-borough, remember all those post apocalyptic films of the '70s and '80s? They were all filmed there. Perhaps that's the key to the good service. Leon takes his hunting spear and opens the first airlock. Cautiously, in case some mutant dog pack or rabid kitty are stalking the entrance to his burrow, he opens the second airlock and sniffs the air. Behind him, the rest of the tribe wait, the elder Dave peering through the window in the first airlock, ready to commit some of the youngsters to aid Leon, or perhaps face the inevitable and watch Leon being torn to pieces by some overwhelming carnivore force.
Today, Leon is lucky. The only possible peril is a rabid squirrel. Not worth the effort of a spear cast. Leon sniffs the air. He can scent danger, but it is not from hungry predators. This danger is one that has driven all living things to seek refuge. It is chemical in nature. The skies are black, blacker than normal. Angry clouds are rolling in. Leon knows the signs. In a few hours, maybe sooner there will be a toxic rain that would flay the hide off uncovered skin. He backs into the first airlock and seals it. He can almost hear the disappointment of the tribe.
As he enters through the second airlock, he grunts. "No eat. Make little men."
And so begins another day at Pendraken.
Things are improving then, bless the 1966 Clean Air Act!
Hello :-h and welcome to the forum.

Well thanks for that! Sprayed coffee all over my iPad - will forward repair invoice.
Welcome aboard! :D
Hi All,
Many thanks for your welcome and fsn for such a descriptive passage on Leon and his teams start to the day! :D
I will always try to be polite on the forum like a true Canadian although I have only been here for 5 years. Still part of the Commonwealth but the first of you folk from Greater Britain to call me a convict or a colonial and I will take my bat and ball and go home ;D.
Anyway I look forward to getting into this scale and promise to add my work to the many excellent galleries and members contributions.
Cheers,
Scott R

Mordor's just to the top right, I couldn't fit it in while keeping us in the shot... :D
One Dave to rule them all, One Leon to find them,
One Adele to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Careful Phil it's hobbit forming! :d
It'm my day off. I was adding a few licks of paint to my entry to the competition, which is quite unusual, because I tend not to paint in the mornings, preferring to get the day jobs out the way so I can relax whilst creating the abominations I do.
I logged on to the forum and there was ...

Folks,
I am mightily impressed by the fellowship that exists on this Forum.
I am heading to London in May for work, anyone know if you can catch a train from London to Hobbiton (Middlesbrough home of Pendraken miniatures)?
cheers,
Scott
If I'm reading it right Scott....
There look to be direct trains to Middlesboro from King's Cross station in London. (How many stops they make on the way, is another matter.)
Someone shout, if I'm wrong !
Cheers - Phil
Welcome to Blighty! Yes you can, but it's quite a trek*! Maybe find a show like Reading Warfare where the guys come south!
*Travel distance and travel time do not match up in this country. Driving in or out of London equates to adding at least two hours to a trip. Getting north-south in this country is easy, but east-west is a nightmare. All roads may not lead to London, but the vast bulk point towards it! Trains are very very expensive too, especially if you try to travel on Fridays in rush hour, but you will find this out!
The irony is, I have loads of friends who have either moved to Canada from London, or are trying too! ;D

Have you got a ring you need to get rid of?
If so, perhaps Techno can guide you. I've got his picture here somewhere ...

I've got far more hair than that !.....As for the rest of the body.....Fair enough !

Thanks all,
Now a UK 'trek' is not the same for us you know. What you call a two hour drive needed a lunch and an overnight stop is just driving to work for us! :D
I will be in London from 15 - 22 May. Anything happening then that they will be in London or nearby???? :-\

There is one from Kings Cross as Techno says:

There's one that stops at Eaglescliffe and Darlington which is a straight run, no stops at all until you get to York. That's the one we use when we've gone down to London ourselves. It's about 3 hours I think, so quite a trek, and it's about £60 return when booked in advance. If you did fancy a visit, I'm sure we could arrange someone to pick you up from Eaglescliffe, but I'm not sure if our unit would be interesting enough to warrant 6 hours combined travel and a chunk of cash!
There's a huge amount of stuff in London to do and there's also a handful of UK shows that month, depending which week you're coming over. There's a 2016 show calendar here: http://www.newarkirregulars.org.uk/
Awesome, I will be there during the Partisan MMXVI on the 22nd of May.
Hi all,
Thank you all very much for the information and advice.
As I said in my opener, I have nor done 10mm before. I did these today as a test. Hopefully I will improve as time goes by. Think I am doing the 28mm things in 10. Any and all advice would be most welcome. Oh and I have no idea who makes the figures.

Sorry I know I should probably put these somewhere else.
Those look good to me!
There's a painting and modelling section and a non-Pendraken section. If the mods have a problem with posting that here i'm sure they'll move it. So not a problem.
Very cool

You can, but I have just looked it up and it will cost you an eye watering £133 return (if you avoid the toxic rain and a rabid FSN) :)
