Title: New Generals and Dragoons for League of Augsburg
Post by: clibinarium on 12 January 2016, 09:43:51 PM
Finally got the chance to finish these figures over Christmas, though they over ran quite considerably. This covers all the essentials of the LoA range now, but there'll continue to be additions, for instance there'll be dragoon horse holders etc (please don't ask what's next, because I haven't decided yet).

So this batch has as many mounted officers and generals as an army will ever need, plus a couple of dismounted figures for good measure. And the basics of French and Alliance dragoons, though there is some stuff to add like horse holders and Alliance dragoons in fur hats (probably just covert the greens once this batch has been cast). Its a bit hard to make out the dragoons in the photos as most hold their muskets by their sides, but the intention is to demonstrate these are not cavalry for mounted action (except in desperate circumstances). Keen eyes may spot they are on new smaller horses, its not a massive difference, but one I wanted to reflect.

WOW! Indeed.  :)  So many poses, so much detail. Awesome.  <:-P =D>

I really need to sort out all the LoA figures I already have and get a game for them, and get them on the table. Then I can get all these new ones too.

Wow!  Great stuff as usual.  Just the right amount of animation for mounted, and foot command.  The French dragoons remind me of the of the drawing, pg. 38 in Osprey's Louis XIV army.

http://leagueofaugsburg.com/fightingtalk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5081&view=next

Great job on the "relaxed" pose for the dragoons.  Also, even though figures are not side by side, to me there is a significant difference between line and dragoon mounts, something I do not think I have ever seen in 18mm, let alone in smaller scales.  Even in 28mm this is not always the case.  With the colorful French dragoon uniforms, these will be really fun to paint, and will make a great contrast to French grey and blue uniforms.  Maybe these will be ready before the annual Pendraken painting contest?

I will need to give it some thought, but I think I could probably rig up something as a plug bayonet for existing infantry.

(BTW, being really picky here, but did mounted command in the French army have a waist belt for swords like the cavalry, or shoulder sling, or did they just do whatever they wanted to?)

May I be allowed to echo Maciek's plea: mounted horseholders, please.  The dismounted ones are more John Ford than John Churchill.

Welcome to the forum John.

Thanks all.  Terribly tempted by the LoA figures.  I've hankered after 10mm since I painted the GW Mighty Empires markers for my nephew; maybe erarlier when I sighted the crew of the Revell Mayflower.

LoA range is almost completed, but I need to clarify some things.
Do you plan to do:

- Cuirassiers with breastplate only
- draft horses for artillery (multipose, with 17-18th century harness)

?
