Title: Noshers achievements in 2015 and plans for 2016
Post by: Nosher on 30 December 2015, 01:22:30 PM
1. Ive managed to play more games this year than in many previous years - result!

2. I've managed to paint far more this year than in many previous years - result

3. Ive managed to spend less on wargames this year than in previous years - result

4. Ive managed to pass on some of my unfinished projects (although there are still loads to offload) - result

In 2015 I managed to pretty much finish the following projects. I say pretty much, as with all these projects there are a few odds and ends in each that still need to be painted to give further options:

US Chain of Command/Bolt Action in 28mm
10mm Napoleonic Austrians
10mm Spanish Civil War
10mm Warband Taurians, Orcs/Goblins and Undead

I've also started on 10mm Napleonic reinforcements including Bavarians and French Heavy Cavalry. Some scratchbulit 10mm fantasy terrain and a SAGA/Lion Rampant 28mm Dark Age Irish Warband.

Not a bad year considering I did pretty much nothing game related between March and August due to my studies!!

In 2016 I'm not making any plans I am just going to see where fancy takes me :)

Those are a good set of gaming related results - along with the results of your studying too, a set of achievements to well proud of !!

:-bd :-bd =D>

I'm not going to ask how you know the answer to 3. I don't even really want to try to work this out for myself  :-[

This is so true. And there are always a couple of extra options that could be added.

By comparison

1. Ive managed to play more games this year than in many previous years - fail. 6 games total, including a one day Saga tournament where I played 4 games.

2. I've managed to paint far more this year than in many previous years - result. I have managed to paint quite a lot this year.

3. Ive managed to spend less on wargames this year than in previous years - FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. But then again, I don't try to spend less year over year.

4. Ive managed to pass on some of my unfinished projects (although there are still loads to offload) - yeah, right. All I've done is add to my unfinished projects. 2015 was the year of wandering from project to project.

Sounds good to me Nosher.

As for me:

1. I've managed to play more games this year than in many previous years - result! However, most of them were Eurogame boardgames not miniatures ones.

2. I've managed to paint far more this year than in many previous years - painted more than last year but painting is still a chore and proceeds way too slowly.

3. I've managed to spend less on wargames this year than in previous years - result. I suspect this is as much to do with moving steadily from 28mm to 6mm/10mm over the years as any frugality!

4. Passing on unfinished projects ... what!? I still have unfinished projects started before my older son was born and he's 30 next year.

Finishing projects .... does not compute! Projects are merely on hold until the next burst of enthusiasm/ new shinies/ next ruleset/ updated army lists. :)

Let's see:
1. More games - definitely as my Thursday night club exile has ended!

2. Painting - three FogR armies plus lots and lots more, been a decent year!

3. Spends - technically less. Sold lots, but Leon did me a deal for the Picts, so, actually an no!

4. Passing on projects: 15mm DAK, Hungarians, British Earky War armour and German Early War armour gone, Japanese fleet gone, 28mm ECW and 100 years-war all gone, but these were finished projects. 15mm US Paratroopers on their way.

5. Finished: Hungarians (sold), Mongols/Tibetans, nearly done LOA Anglo-Dutch and Samurai, Falklands finished and played.

Nosher, congratulations on a great set of results, including your studies =D> =D> =D>

For me:

1. I've managed to play more games this year than in many previous years - yes, including more demo games, we even got invited to ValleyCon rather than offering :)

2. I've managed to paint far more this year than in many previous years - Yes, thanks to Pierre the Shy and Sir Peter Jackson :D

3. I've managed to spend less on wargames this year than in previous years - Yes, thanks to Pierre the Shy :)

4. I've managed to pass on some of my unfinished projects (although there are still loads to offload) -  ??? :-/

I have four projects at various stages of completion that I will work on next year:
 - AWI - snakes fences, some buildings, fields & hills for Guilford Courthouse to finish off
 - Age of Sail - remaining two thirds of the ships to paint up, rules probably need some more tweaking
 - 1914 - some additional additional reinforcements to do once they arrive
 - 1917 - remaining 40%, including some reinforcements, to do
           - trenches to do as soon as they arrive in country :-w :-SS :!!

I suspect there will some new thing(s) added to this list as the year goes on, not sure what yet :-\
