Post by: chalkie on 14 December 2015, 01:28:53 PM
Hi all, been a long time since I was the forum due to
a long illness but now Iam back chomping at the bit. I fancy
getting into the war of 1812 in north america but Iam not sure what
size battalions to use , how many batralions , that kind of thing. If any of you
could helo that would be great.
cheers , Paul.

Hello chalkie

Welcome back. I'm not really an expert in this period but one of my favourite go-to places for rules The Perfect Captain has two sets of rules written for 1812. One "John Bull/Patriots" http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/jbull.html (http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/jbull.html) is at company level so you can start with a smaller number of figures ready to go and the other "Cousin Jonathan" http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/jonathan.htm (http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/jonathan.htm) is set up at Battalion/Regimental level. They are free downloadable pdfs so you can take an opportunity to read through them before printing to see if they float your boat.

There is a campaign module at http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/1814.html (http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/1814.html), confusingly called OBD.ZIP in the download page.

I'm sure other more knowledgeable types will be along shortly.

Cheers
