Title: Iron Cross WW2 rules first playthrough
Post by: Ferb on 13 December 2015, 10:47:41 PM
Hi all,

I've just written up my thoughts on the new Iron Cross rules after my first solo play through.

The post can be found here. (http://ferbsfightingforces.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/iron-cross-ww2-rules-first-playthrough.html)

Quick summary: I like the rules and you spend most of your time thinking about tactics not how the rules work. But they're not without problems which I think have mainly been caused by streamlining the rules too much in places.

Thanks, interesting points raised. Did you feel that the Panther v Sherman combat felt about right?

If neither have moved they both need a 5+ on a D10 to hit
To penetrate, the Sherman 76mm adds a D10 to its weapon value of 9 and needs to beat the Panther's front armour of 17
The Panther's gun is rated a 10 + a D10 and needs to beat the Sherman 76mm's front armour of 15, the Sherman 75mm's armour is 13

So depends how you rate the tanks.

Sherman to kill Panther - .5 x .2 (9 or 10 needed) = 0.1

Panther to kill Sherman - .5 x .5 = .25
