Very interesting way of making dedicated terrain mats, could also be used to create various fields :-\

Would that crease when unfolded after storing?

A few years ago at a show, i say a group who had made large hexes and covered then with towelling that was then painted - the texture in the last photograph reminded me of how painted towelling looks. All good stuff.

Looked at the photos and thought it looked great, but couldn't help wondering where Private Ryan was.

How would you go about colouring the fur?

Could certain methods be used so the mat could be rolled up?

If that were possible then easy-to-store modular terrain would be a possibility  :-\

I was thinking of using a dye, probably brown and then dusting with spray paint probably greens & yellow

I've seen this done very well in 28mm. From memory they airbrushed the fur with inks, but can't be certain.
