Hmm, doing 21 hour days with no time to pre-viz and prepare... no wonder the films were not very good. <rant> What amazes me is that people who have to make decisions think they can function (or are forced to function) without sleep. Be that politicians, film directors, officers or company directors. Even the military knows, based on studying sleep loss and deprivation, that the first thing one loses is the abiity to make sensible decisions.</rant>

Enjoyable films set in middle earth but NOT The Hobbit

As a form of stand alone, cinematic escapism I really enjoyed all three of the films, however, as an accurate representation of the Hobbit, they left a lot to be desired. But, in saying that, they were close enough to be instantly recognisable.
