Would really like to have round bases for my CO/HQs: does anyone know the base sizes used in Warmaster?
Also, how do you generally base your BCKII miniatures in terms of sizes used?
I don't think Warmaster has anything solid, generally everyone I've seen tends to use 1p for Lords and Wizards, and 2p size for Generals.
In BKCII it doesn't specify, I have mine on square bases, 40mm for HQ, and 60mm for CO.
Base sizes in Warmaster are 40mm x 20mm in one orientation or the other.
Coming to BKC from Warmaster I started with 40x20 bases but bigger things (Tiger tanks for example) I put on whatever base size they'll comfortably fit on.
The "rule" for characters in Warmaster was basically," don't take the piss!" :) If a base would allow a character an advantage in command radius due to it's size you measured from the centre of the base. We've kept the same ethos in BKC. So my command stands are little dioramas, usually on 40mm square bases, sometimes on 60mm square bases.
Pictures of most of my BKC stuff (well the painted stuff, at least) in this thread http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,8613.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,8613.0.html)
40 square for hq'q, 50 square for CO's.
Think these were the suggested base sizeq from theoriginal bkc book. Of course, you could use 40 and 50 round bases too!
25mm square for my HQs and 38mm square for my CO. FAO and FAC on 2p coins which are approximately 25mm in diameter.
How do people usually base FAC/FAOs?
Do you base them like regular HQs but with distinctive visual traits, or do you give them distinctive base shapes?
I base mine like the other command stands.
The FAC is in an Sdkfz251/3 with frame aerial and accompanied by crew in Luftwaffe Blue rather than Field Grey.
The FAO teams are hiding in ruins with an officer, a radio operator, a set of scissor scopes and a Kettenrad (with the engine running :) ).
Seems to work OK.
Are BKC and BCK synonyms?
This is what I use for BKC and CWC....
50x25mm for infantry
30x50mm for tanks and larger vehicles
20x40mm for smaller vehicles (or put 2 on a large base)
25 x 25mm, HQ, infantry support AT guns, FAO FOO etc
40x40mm for CO
in each case, troops facing first dimension listed
4 x infantry on a 50mm x 25mm base to represent a standard section/platoon.
2 x riflemen, 1 x officer and 1 x bren gunner on a 50mm x 25mm base to represent a section/platoon with PIAT/Panzerfaust upgrade.
1 x riflemen, 1 x sten gun and 1 x bren gunner on a 25mm x 25mm base to represent a dismounted carrier section/platoon. They can also be used as Recce units.
We tend to use
60x30 infantry
30x60 vehicles
40x40 supports
30mm round for spotters and HQ
50mm round for CO
It seems everyone uses a different basing system. Is that a problem?

Nah, I don't think it matters too much. As long as both side are fairly similar then, the game plays just the same without anyone having any advantage.
It also depends on figure size. My 6mm are based different to my 10mm, which are different again from my 15mm!
Oh the joys of multiple scales!! :D
Circular bases
60mm for CO
40mm for HQ
30mm for FAO/FAC
I'm a 15mm man. My 1000pts of Aussies in North Afrika below.
