Because of the texture at first glance I thought you had painted them in oils. Lovely job.

Nope, it's all acrylic.

Wash sprues in warm soapy water, dry, undercoat in black, dry brush in white, fill in colour areas leaving black as shadow, wash in Army Painter Soft Tone, varnish in Galeria Matt Acrylic Varnish. Base to taste.

Nice!

I've been using the AP matt spray varnish with home grown (well, from B&Q) shade tone, but the need for decent weather to spray was getting awkward. I might have to give brush on Galeria a try - is it low VOCs/not smelly/safe to breath in the house, Jim?

I've never noticed any vapour type smells from brushed on Galeria Matt Acrylic Varnish and it certainly does not interfere with your breathing. I am asthmatic and I pick up any sort of allergens in the air quite quickly.

It is not particularly expensive and is available in most art shops and hobby craft shops. It dries really matt too but be careful to not let it pool and be even more careful if you are brushing it over non-waterproof inks like Winsor & Newton.

Cheers Jim!

Next time I pass the art shop I might sneak in and have a look - prices on line aren't bad, but by the time I go postage > faff > wait etc I might as well grab one whenever.
