Hi, many years ago we played with Pony Wars but I have no idea who ended up with the rules or where to get another copy as I believe they are out of print. Is there a modern equivalent or an alternative.

Cavalier books or Freikorps 15 do them.
Pretty sure neither of them do ML. Tried to hunt down a set 18 months or so ago without success.
Mentioned my lack of success to a friend who said,"Oh, I've got your set of those. Been meaning to give them back since our last game!"

I believe (though I may be wrong) that they are now in the hands of Pete at Baccus, who was involved somehow in their development originally? He did intend to reprint them but this was several years ago now and I've not heard anything recently.
I'm gaming the Plains Wars right now using "Too Few to Fight, Too Many to Die." Simple, easy to play, it's not perfect by any means, but it covers "large" Indian Wars battles from 1750-1900. Nice Army Lists (but, unfortunately, no scenarios). I just finished a pretty decent Battle of the Rosebud and plan on using it for the larger battles east of the Mississippi as well. I don't recommend the rules without reservation, but I haven't been able to find much else out there.
They can also be used for other periods. One of the leading lights in the olden days at the Leic club painted up a British V Dervish version.
