In advance of the release of the rules, Keith has set up a website to support them. Details can be found on his Blog;

I am looking forward to these rules being published. I like the way Keith Flint went about developing the rules and testing them as outlined in posts to his blog. The ideas about how to adapt them to use with 10mm (and other scale) figures are very sensible and pragmatic unlike some of the suggestions in Der Krieg Kunst or even to some extent in Black Powder.

Thanks for the link. Will look in on this in future to see how it all goes.

BTW: Intrigued by your comment on BP, Bill, as I use them quite happily with 10mm. My 'standard' units are 4 bases strong with 8 figs. in two ranks on a 1 inch square base. The BP ranges and movement rates are easily divisible to 2/3rds or half scale measurements and I use my own 2/3rds scale and half scale measurements Quick Reference Sheets. I will happily send copies to you if you want. Cheers.

I have not got my copy of BP to hand to remind myself exactly what I did not like about how they handled 10mm. From what I can recall it was OK but did not float my boat - the DKK suggestions to my mind completely missed the point of using smaller scale figures and it seems the authors have given up any pretence of supporting the rules on the forum.

The latest issue of Miniature Wargames (391) has a detailed review of the rules by Dave Fielder.

Westie and Jim, I base like Westie and have been playing SYW BP for some years now with no problem and no real incentive to change, as they work well. My only quibble is with the Prussian army list which seems to give the Prussians so many advantages that no one wanted to play against them. Consequently we have limited what the Prussians can have and allowed the Austrians to have as much as they can get their hands on, including improved leadership for the likes of Daun. This has produced much more competitive games rather than the constant Prussian walkovers we were experiencing.
