Title: Looking for a "tankette"
Post by: NeilCFord on 23 October 2015, 08:40:23 AM
One of the support options in my AVBCW Chain of Command rules is for a "Tankette". Anyone care to suggest something from the Pendraken range that might be suitable? Failing that, something from someone else's 10mm range?

The notes for the vehicle are: Single machine gun. Low profile, small

How about the C33

Something Polish perhaps as well

The T13 Belgian tank destroyer is fun as well

The Italian CV33/L3 or Panzer I types are perfect if you can rationalise your force having one, or maybe a Bren Gun Carrier (open topped, but tiny!), a Dingo Scout Car or perhaps even a Matilda I or MkVi light if that's not too meaty? The CV33 could be hand waved as a Carden-Lloyd tankette as well, maybe? You might also slip in the Vickers with the twin MG turrets or T-26 with twin MGs but they're probably a bit meaty like the Tilly...

The list already has the Vickers Mk VI with twin machine guns, so looking for something lighter to predominantly work as a recce vehicle. Unsportingly I've only made these options available to military units, everyone else has to improvise. Want to keep the amount of heavy ordnance to a minimum.

Will probably go with the C33 as it has a suitably quirky appearance.

It's close enough to hand wave as a Carden Lloyd for me, as well - or at least the ones I had from Another Place (tm) which are tiny compared to the Pendraken ones!

Hello

There's also the Renault UE (FRE4) not normally armed but a bit of wire fixes that. :D

.

I must have got my Carden Loyd from Yet Another Place (tm) because mine are appreciably larger than the sanctioned CV33 and Renault.

The Carden-Lloyd should be a wee bit smaller & a lot less bulky, which is why my smaller (might be 1/150th not 1/144th, or something similar that I'm not sure of the scale on?) L33's are relegated to "pretend CL tankettes" and the role of "actual L33" is given to the much meatier Minifigs ones :D The Pendraken Panzer I dwarfs the lot of them :D
