The reason I am suggesting this topic is I would like Leon & the boys to see which armies people do own and we would be devastated if they are not in the new ed.
Basically, what armies do you currently own and game with at 1000pts or more?
I have
Belgians
1944+ Germans for West & East Europe
Japanese
Chinese (2nd Sino War 1937-41 era)
Australian Desert
Australian Pacific
Currently working on Africa Korp
Not sure about points (I don't use points to construct forces, but I still like the Army lists as reference material), but I play with (or want to, some of these have actually never seen the table :( ):
USA
USA Para
USMC (mid/late war)
Brit Early War
Brit Late War
Brit Para
Brit North Africa
German Early War
German Late War
German Para
German North Africa
Soviet Early War (also used them as Poles for Early War)
Soviet Late War
French Early War
Japanese (entire war)
I've got quite a bit of stuff for CWC as well, but one thing at a time ;)
V/R,
Jack
In various scales I can do
Germans 1936-45
Russians 1939-45
Finns 1939-40
British 1940 and 44-45
USMC 1942-45
Considering
French 1940
Eastern Front Axis allied nation - Hungarian or Slovakian probably
Germans Europe, East or West 1940-45
Germans North Africa 1941-43
Italians North Africa 1940-43
Russian 1941-45
All in 6 mm unfortunately.
British '39 - '45
Germans '39 - '45
Russians '39 - '45
Italians SCW - '43
US Paras
German Fallschirmjager
AVBCW
French '39 - '40
British Paras
I think that's all of them :-\
All scales combined i have:
44+ british
British airborne
44+ german
late eatern front russian
USMC
Japanese
US and german Ardennes.
DAK and 8th army
The top 4 are finished and painted, so that's what gts used in gaames, the rest is for when i have time :P
Let's see...
In 6mm
Early war poles
Early-mid-late Hungarians
Early-mid-late Germans that can be slotted in or out for East or west front
Desert Italians
Desert Brits
NWE Brits (also work for Italy)
Various odds & sods I never put together in full!
In 10mm
Extensive AVBCW armies, which include useful WW2 & Spanish Civil stuff like -
Fall of France British
Fall of France German
Fall of France France
Non-Desert Italians - Russia, France, Balkans, SCW. With the couple of Semoventes I also have they aren't too rubbish and could do Sicily if not Tunisia...
Some of the bonus periods there require a bit of squinted past flags & insignia and produce oddly structured forces!
In 15mm
Soviet Early-mid-late Desant with ludicrous heavy tank or assault gun support.
Hungarians
Late war Americans
Mid to late war Germans
In 20mm (but they do t come out for BKC often if at all really)
Africa Korps
SCW technically Fascist Regular army but with some flag swaps and squinting they'll cover Republican regulars too.
No idea how many points, but my usual is 1:1 at company strength. So for 1944 Germans I have 1 company PzGren (in SdKfz251 & trucks), plus a mixed Panther/PzIV squadron, with support (artillery, AA, engineers, AT, and for this force a troop of Tigers.)
France, 1940
British armoured (A9, 10, 13) + tank (Matilda I & II) squadron
French DCR (s35)
German Pz (PzI - Pz 4, Pz35)
German infantry
German Airborne (though these need redoing, thanks to some new releases!)
Russia 1941
Russia T35/T28, which I can swap with KVI/II's to annoy the Germans.
German elements to upgrade my German 1940 to 1941 (later Pz III/IV)
Med 1942
Italian (M13/40, Semovante)
British (Valentine & Crusader)
1944
American (pretty ubiquitous - Shermans and half tracks.)
German PzGren 1944 (PzIV and Panther)
British (Sherman and Churchill)
Russian (T34)
British Airborne
US Airborne
As you'll see I tend to have a core of units, then play around with the fringes to cover most periods. If I wanted Western desert I could use the Matilda IIs and the Crusader, for example.
I am, I will admit a total WWIIophile. Somewhere at the back of my mind is a US marines / Japanese Naval Forces. I've been watching too many YouTube videos of island hopping.
Mid-eastern front.
I don't use the points system to construct armies. My games are usually company sized with a base equal to a half-section or one vehicle/gun.
My armies are largely Pendraken but not restricted to them by any means. I have SCW, German Low Countries, German Crete, British Crete and Dutch 1940 (using Boer War figures and conversions, mainly from WW1). I have plans to do Belgians 1940 but as Pendraken doesn't do them......
BKCII is modified to reflect my preconceptions. I never thought the Command Phase very realistic as it seems, to me, to formalise what was actually a fairly chaotic activity. My ranges are also much longer and reflect the 1:1 ratio I use.
For BKC
Brits NW Europe 39-45
Brits N Africa 40-43
Brit Paras NW Europe 42-45
Germans NW Europe & Russia 39-45
Germans N Africa 41-43
Italians 40-43
Cheers, Andy

German 39-45 Europe
Russian 43-45

Russian mid-late
I need to offload these as I simply don't have enough space or terrain to match the figures
In 28mm
British Commando
German Late War
US Late War
British - Dads Army and Civilians
Nothing in 10mm and no plans to change that. I'm also probably unlikely to add to any of my WW2 collection anytime soon
In 15mm I have

Afrika Corp 1942/42 (Infantry and Armour)
American Paratroopers
American Infantry and Armour
28mm
Russian mid to late war
American (Paratroopers, infantry and "Oddballs" Sherman :D)
Like others I don't use a Points system per se but use actual OOB's scaled down to 1:5 or near enough -in other words even if there are less five of something I will still get one of them.
British Armoured Division 44+
German Tank Division (representing SS Das Reich) 44+
Generic Japanese all war division.

I Hope Mrs Orcs does not see this :)
I think the message here is everyone has at least a couple of the "big boys", often more than one & often an extra specific sub armies "special". And pretty much every odd smaller nation or weird stuff is owned by a couple of someone's!
All in 6mm
Japanese 43-45
US 43-45
German 42-45
Russian 42-42
6mm
(basically about a division or more at nominal BKCII scale)

US Airborne
British Airborne
Italian Front Commonwealth

Russians for Manchuria campaign '39/'40 and '45
Mods to Japanese for '39/'40 in Manchuria
ANZAC Papua/New Guinea

Italians same
Correct my last statement - I'm not even going to try. Several thousand including almost all periods, in most scales.
10mm stuff includes Sassanian, Turks, Poles, Mongols, SCW (both sides) US, German(twice) and Russian. Working on a WSS/15 army.
6mm - almost any NATO army including US, some duplicated 1-1 and CWC, some either or, Shed load of Sov/War Pac, Indian, Portugese and several S. am. types. Then clearly you are in need of at least two Pendraken 10mm WW2 armies and a copy of the new Blitzkreig Commander rulebook :)

We'll be doing a separate Weird War supplement instead, as we'd like to create some small ranges to support it.
Excellent!

I'm starting to gather, paint, and base British and German forces for the mid-1941 to mid-1942 period in the Western Desert, along with a buddy of mine. I'm raising the British 4th Armored Brigade Group, the 11th Indian Brigade, and the 5th Light/21st Panzer Division.
You can see some pictures at these two blog reports:

That's the spirit. Mind you, the stink around pre-modern army camps is sometimes noted in history books. A small contributory reason for Ottoman victories was proper latrine discipline.
Back on track briefly, I have 3 BKC Armies so far all from Pendraken.
Germans, mostly late war. (about 7000pts to choose from)
Finnish (1500pts)
