Hi all,
I've been lurking for some time, and as I've finally managed to work out how to post pictures (I think), I thought I'd come out of the shadows...
I started a small AWI project with a few members of my local club.
I had no idea which set of rules to use, nor who was going to join in, but I knew one of us would need to be Militia. I took it upon myself to take on the role of the lowly militia.
Several other club members joined in & before I knew it, we had enough players for a decent size game.
I've painted almost all the figures (British, Continentals, Hessians & Militia), but as only the Militia belong to me, I've only got a pic of them.
As soon as we play our next game, I'll be sure to take pics & try and include a batrep.
For now though, I've included a pic of my Militia. I hope you like them.

Pretty dashed impressive for a first post! 8)
Hello and welcome in from the shadows!/D
Good first post - welcome. I would like to build an AWI force (both sides) so will be interested to see where you go with this.
Good afternoon, Bob.
Welcome to the forum.
You'll find an incomprehensible number of people here who consider the AWI of great interest.
Nice to see another forum member step up centre stage!
As the others have said, a very impressive debut.
Look forward to more pictures.
I'm slowly losing the battle to persuade myself I'm not interested in gaming the American Rebellion ... War of Independence :)
Very nice start!

And a warm welcome to the forum, Rob.

A very warm welcome to the forum Rob :-h
As others have said an impressive first post. I like the mix of packs you have used :)
Militia fought in more actions than the 'regular' units so you should get a lot of use out of these. Just don't expect more than two volleys out of them ;)
Welcome on board Rob and looking forward to seeing more examples of your work.
:-bd :-bd :-bd :-bd
Remindsme i have 50 sections of snake fence made out of cocktail sticks waiting for a paintjob :-SS
Welcome to to the forum and a very nice start
Take care
Andy
Good Atrenoon....
IanS :D
Hi again,
Many thanks for all the kind comments.
One of my gaming buddies lent me his Brits to take some pics (I painted them for him)...

Stop it! You're not helping! :)
Hi again,
Firstly, apologies to Ithoriel.... I'm afraid I've managed to borrow another mates AWI figures (I painted his stuff too) and I've got pics.....
First up, Indians, artillery & cavalry

Next up, his (so far) only British unit - he wants to do both sides!!

Lastly, 3 of his Continental units (he's got another unit on my painting table)

Very impressive
What colours did you use for the Indian skin? I have some to paint up ;)
Thanks again for the kind comments :-)
The Indian skin was Tan - it's the Vallejo Game colour (number 72066)
I hope to get my hands on the Hessians I painted for a friend next week, so pics of them will appear shortly thereafter :-)
Cheers,
Rob
Now if I can only get my Prussians to look that good.
Very nice work! :)

The sculpts are very impressive with great detail and a good variety of poses. They paint up really easily :)
I really enjoyed painting mine :) :)
Hi again...
I got hold of the Hessians, so the pic is finally done...(apologies for lack of flags - they will hopefully follow soon).

I'm hoping to run a game of AWI at my local club in the next few weeks. As long as I can get some decent pics, I'll do a Batrep.
Cheers,
Rob
Looking good
I've just started some Highlanders for French Indian wars.
Hoping they'll turn out as good as these but doubt it lol
Regards
Sean
Excellent, Rob ! :-bd

Is the 2nd battalion von Bose?
I'm looking forward to the battle report :)
Thanks for the kind comments.
If I remember correctly, the musketeers are the Von Bose and Von Donop. Grenadiers are the Von Rall.
The Jagers form 2 companies (we use a figure to man ratio of 1:5). The grenadier and musketeer battalions are a bit under strength but I think the owner (I only painted them) will increase unit sizes at some point in the future :-)
I must admit that prior to starting the AWI, I thought it had very limited appeal, but the more games I play (or run) the more I enjoy them..
We use a homegrown set - they are called "Liberty or Crown". Very simple mechanics, but lots of period specific flavour.
Cheers,
Rob
Terrific! :-bd
