Help!
I'm putting together an order for a medieval french HYW list for FOG and am having trouble identifying a suitable figure for French Brigans - a sword armed peasant type.
as I already have peasants in the army I dont particularly want to use the peasant pack. Can anyone identify a suitable pack from elsewhere in the pendraken listings?
Cheers ;)
Pics of any suggestions would also be helpful ;)
Peasent with swords!... do not sounds very historical, (by the way I do not know to much about french brigans)
Maybe this one with paint conversion ( I supose the helmet is the thing that much bothers...)

or maybe AB6 (sudanese infantry) chopping out the point of the helmet... could work, do not really know
I am telling by heart... but I think Norman command N1, has a pretty figure with sword and chain mail advnacing, that could be really cool. Or a paint conversión could transform the chainmail into a wolly coat. The helmet I think fits with your requierments.
hope that helps
After a quick chat with Dave, we're thinking ER3 - Highlander with 2 handed sword and mail (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ER3-p2983/ (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ER3-p2983/))
There's only the one pose in the pack, with the sword at 45 degrees, simple helmet and a shield strapped to the back.
Other than that, there's not much else available, mainly because peasants would rarely have been able to afford a sword.
I would have to look it up but I think sword is a kind of generic, secondary weapon type in FOG unless it is a skilled swordsmen. I suspect swords with peasants are probably peasants with knifes, pitchforks, flails etc. Need to look it up in the FOG rulebook to be sure. I will check later tonight if I remember.
But are we talking brigans or brigands? Brigands were unemployed professional soldiers that pillaged the local countryside because they had no work and enjoyed pillaging. They might be peasants but they were also professional soldiers with professional weapons.

Cheers all ;)
Looking through the listing again and the troop notes it is definately BRIGANS as opposed to Brigands. The troop notes also mention:
"Lightly armed troops witha variety of weapons. Their listing is Average, Protected, Medium foot, Undrilled swordsmen so I am guessing they are a professional-ish force"
It's the swords that are the sticking point.... :D
Without swords, you've got more options, like the shire levy billmen, unarmoured pike, or peasant bow.
Get a huge mix of all types, looking like a real rabble with every figure different :)

Again, I still haven't looked at the rulesbook but isn't protected infantry clad in mail or padded armor? If so, they aren't rabble peasants scooped up from the nearest village. As you say, more professional-ish. That would open up your options as to miniatures.

I had confused Brigans with Ribaulds... :o Still, thats the joy of moving into a new era of gaming!
I blame Tours de Merle which I visited last week http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tours_de_Merle a real must for anyone visiting the Limousin/Correze. Staggering :)
I checked out the definition of protected last night. It is helmet, leather or padded protection-no mail and maybe shield. I am not sure what the ribalds are suppose to represent. You might want to post on the FOG forums.
