What was your proudest wargaming moment? Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in an important game? Getting an article published in one of the mags? Or putting the final touch to that army you've been working on for the past 3 years?
The club idiot announced that he'd re-written my ancients rules to "correct the errors". We refought the battle of the Jaxartes using his rules, which he insisted would finally show him to be the better player, and I destroyed his entire army without losing a single man.
No great credit to my generalship, given the loopholes he'd built in, but oh, SOOOOOOOOOOOO satisfying.
The first time I received a royalties cheque for the sales of a rule set I'd written.
The amount wasn't a great deal and wasn't important, what was satisfying was that people thought my work good enough to actually put their hands in their pockets and hand over their cash.
To crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentation of their women. :D :D :D
My 1000 point night goblin army beating an empire one of 1500 points ;D ;D ;D
Probably getting onto two 'teams' in the wargames world: both here with Pendraken [mostly painting & daft ideas] & with Specialist Military Publishing with Pete Jones since BKCI [playtesting, proofing, painting & daft ideas] 8)
